Brave man you are to tackle this job. I did one many years ago and it did not go as well as yours. Those needle bearings are quite the trouble to put back.

It was certainly a lot of trouble just to service the synchros!

Your a brave man, this clear and easy to understand video will be inviable to any one needing to overhaul a Moss Box, mostly early Jag owners who have them. You made a very difficult job look almost possible to any one ells., I also like your method of disassembly in a bag good to catch any springs and ball baring that fail out and get lost. After seeing how complicated it is I can see why they got replaced.

Thanks. More modern gearboxes are even more complex, including the later type of synchro. Then again, the modern synchros work better to start with.

I love gearboxes. Need to overhaul my '47 Ford - 3 speed trans. . . . (someday)

Very good, but to me horrendously complicated! Loved you comment on reading the AC manual lol! Now I wonder, what was that big blue thing in the background of you photo of the AC???

Engineer Chris, as featured in some of my engine videos, was driving that locomotive in the background :)

No mention of how you are supposed to remove the bearing from the input-shaft aka "constant pinion shaft" - (which you call the "primary shaft"). That's the only thing I looked at this video for - and it isn't covered! My shaft doesn't appear to knock out through the bearing - do I need a puller? That's 15 minutes of my life that I'll never have again....
