@@Dracobyte apparently it is 50 bucks. Checked up. Amazon had pre-orders on it. Now ? I wanna know. Is it a 20 hr RPG but have weird replay elements. Btw researching this Dev team. 38 people worked on this on Unreal engine 4. Main guy started this company was a Ex-Ubisoft worker for 4 years.

This has to be GOTY in 2025. Has to be. The return of turn base is HUGE for games. People actually wants this back into Final Fantasy. I hope SE learns from this.

Combat looks AMAZING! Love me turn based, so much more fun imo. Graphics are top notch as well, hopefully the final product is good, but this looks like a quality game. Wishlisted on steam.

I'm excited to dive into this game next year and while there has been many good RPGs recently in the indie space it's been a while since a classic-styled RPG looked this gorgeous. Hopefully, this could inspire a return to form for companies that more or less abandoned traditional RPGs for other genres.

My impression is a cinematic turn based game in a dream like world reminiscent of some post apocalyptic sci fi wonderland. It is intriguing. The style, movement, life and tone of the world is amazing, but I hope to see more in the art design. The uniforms are probably designed to not draw attention away from the combat, and they should definitely not show us everything in the trailer, BUT personally I want them to see more exciting designs especially for the clothes. I know that one of the developers is a fan of FF 8, but I don't think it was because of the uniforms.

Your confusion is fairly understandable. Clair-obscur and chiaroscuro are synonyms that describe the relationship of light and dark elements in an image. And the related term camera obscura refers to the effect where light passing through a small opening will produce a flipped image on a surface, which is the basis for how cameras work and where they get their name

This does look super intriguing, will definitely be keeping an eye. If youve never tried it, Shadow Hearts has a form of the kind of engagement in turn based combat i think youd enjoy, they use the judgement ring where you have to hit portions of the ring to successfully do the attack youve picked. One on the most satisfying things ive done in a game was towards the end of that hitting crits for an attack on blind and fast ring for a hard hitting attack, and still one of my favourite stories to this day.

I hope there's an option to auto those inputs, or at least have them randomly happen like in The Last Remnant. I play turn-based games because they don't require quick reaction speeds.

Basicly the FF15 I've always wanted to see. Like the music, the story themes and the overall style is pretty close but with a enhanced FF10 system.

Everything that they've shown about this game has looked amazing but I won't be sold on the game until it's been reviewed. This is a UE5 game made by a fairly small team so I'm incredibly worried about how the game will run at launch. If it turns out to be technically sound then I'll definitely pick it up; however if there are serious performance issues then I will likely wait to see if they are able to fix them. I'm gonna need a SOLID 60 FPS for this game despite it being turn-based as there are clearly active time things that you need to react to quickly. If it has a 60FPS mode on consoles then it will likely be greatly compromised so I'm just hoping that there is a decent PC version of the game immediately so I can dive in with no issues.

You make a good point about FF learning from this game, I'm not really an action RPG fan as much as I am a turn-based fan - and I don't know how far away a FFX remake is - but the idea of SQEX never going back to turn based or ATB genuinely sucks to consider.

From the trailer, the story feels so similar to FF Type-0, especially that the main cast seems to have died and return, just like Type-0.

am i the only one who actually thinks this looks really bad 😅 and i usually love RPGS like Metaphor that im playing rn just the visuals imo are extremely uninspiring and bland. just looks like Unreal5

Not a big fan of the colorimetry. That's just black and grey everywhere and because of that it looks bland.

well, "clair obscur" means "chiaroscuro" in English. So its colorimetry style is kind of literally in the game's main name. I personally like it, but like any big artistic choices, it's bound to be divisive.

looks like another overly taxing "ultra realistic" visual "style" that's just gona barely hold 20 fps on 5090 nvidia cards when they drop next year -.- really tired of under optimised games trying to go for photo realism instead of a solid art style combat looks interesting but landing those parries, counters, and perfect attacks with poor optimisation is gona suck, really hope they actually optimise it unlike every game release these days

Graphically beautiful... But we have seen this time and time again... Get passed it. The game play is like everything other game. Nothing new here. Expect another flop to to fighting mechanics and fix camera angle... 😕 Turn base combat is boring for this caliber of game.

Could not possibly disagree with you more. If you don't like turn-based combat, that's fine, this isn't the game for you, but there is a VERY clear desire for it to make a comeback and then huge reactions to stuff like this, the return of Mario RPG/Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, people wanting turn-based FF back after 16. The list goes on and on and on. Turn-based RPGs with modern visual fidelity are very doable and can sell well. Many AAA publishers do think like you. Everything has to be a hack and slash or shooter, or the general public won't buy it. And then the games they put out to cater to the general public totally flop...
