My 68th bday this month. Back in Junior High had a substitute gym teacher Mr Stuart, a Marine Corps Drill Instructor who made us run for fifteen minutes. EVERYONE including him. The weak kids, the obese kids, no exception, no excuses. I can still hear " The human body is an amazing thing! It can run ALL DAY! Keep moving, you can do it! I believe you can! You need to believe you can. do not stop, Do not quit on me, I will not quit on you, I will not let you quit, l believe in each and every one of you, you will accomplish amazing things if you do not quit." No one did. We all loved and respected Mr Stuart. He ran with every class and beside that kid who was overweight and ready to quit but would not quit cause Sgt. Stuart would not let him or leave him behind. You can give up, feel defeated, get knocked down but you can regroup, get up and keep moving forward until you make through. Just don't quit. Great lesson for a junior high kid. IMO

My high school principal was a veteran marine. One beautiful day he gave my friends and I a hall pass "To the hill" . A hill out by the football field. He said, "You're three such lovely girls, and you asked me so politely." I haven't seen a video yet of our troops at an OP pausing during an initial TIC to swap out of PT gear and then join the fight. But out on patrol, you don't have that option. They absolutely should be doing company runs and PT in boots and their branch's fatigues. That is realistic training. During a five mile company run I was on, I spotted these two Rangers coming out of the woods and crossing our path. They had full packs on, camo paint the works. They were running at a decent clip. But it was like they suddenly got bored with running and dropped to the ground and started pushing them out. I was literally dying from the run myself, and these men had no obvious limits. It impressed the shit out of me. I still remember this event from many years ago Hooah! Rangers! R E S P E C T

You can not lose to the new recruits, it is a risky proposition to race or fight a new recruit because if you lose, the entire group will lose respect for you. The Sgt HAD to win that race! You gotta like a soldier that is confident in himself and his abilities. Well done, sir!

HOOOrah!!!...I get your statement but do some research. There are Israeli, German, and French units that are well on par and equal to our average marine and their special forces are the complete package.

Blah-blah-blah... Too much ego is worse than not enough... Get real man... I trained with marines, and they are just the same as the rest. But with harsher medieval discipline and some kind of weird social cleavage between the ranks and officers. Like royalty and peasants... This particular guy is an exception to the average human body, but there are people like him in every unit I've seen.
