Most beautiful road in NSW? Driving the Snowy Mountains Hwy - Hume Hwy/Tumut to Cooma

Join me for a drive on the incredibly scenic Snowy Mountains Highway, from its beginning on the Hume Highway to the town of Cooma in the Monaro highlands. We'll be passing through the towns of Adelong, Tumut and Adaminaby, as well as Kosciuszko National Park.

Its a great drive either way you approach it, although I do prefer tackling it south to north. That way you see the mountains in the distance as you approach them, then basically dive down into Talbingo. The section from Tumut to Adaminaby in particular is very scenic and great fun in something sporty.

Lovely! I did the road from Albury to Cooma via Cabramurra once, i.e. joining up with the second half (approx) of your route (actually we did it as part of Melb-Syd, it ended up being a 12 or 13h drive iirc XD). Would love to go back and do your route plus several other roads around there :) Gorgeous place lbr

Great video been all over the snowy back in the 90’s. As a passenger, these are the times I wish I could drive . I would pack the car and not look back haha Lots of fishing , love the trout. Should say in all my days never seen snow only on the peaks. My best time was spent Tantangara dam just fishing in the night you could hear the wild dogs and occasional grunt from wild pigs or razorbacks. We fix them with fire crackers.

Kiandra snow plains are my favorite area on this road especially as the Eucumbene river runs through there as well.

Yep this is the road from Canberra. Cooma is right at the start of the Snowy Mountains, so not far at all.
