DON'T TRY TO RESTART IT! I feel like this should be on the driving theory test! If your ICE car dies in water it's probably because the air intake got submerged, the engine stopped getting air, so it choked into stopping. That's not the end of the world. Get towed to safety and check filter and the block. There's a good chance you just need the air intake and filter to dry out and you're away. If you try to start it immediately, you will suck all the water that's in the intake into the motor. Water doesn't compress like air so you will bend/snap pistons and now you're talking a full engine rebuild.

For the benefit of those not familiar with European, including British, geography many settlements are at river crossings with all buildings above historic flood levels. Most of the time the road will be dry or have a little water over it. Very occasionally a ford will be too deep to cross, in which case people in the past would simply wait a few hours for it to go down. Although flooding is more frequent now, building a bridge to allow for rare floods is not just expensive but difficult because it affects access to adjacent properties. There is always an alternative route.

Happened to me once at night time in a Mark 4 Ford Escort, no emergency road signs up. Immediately dropped into second gear and foot to the floor .. The water came over the bonnet. Just made it out the other side..! 😅 Good ole Escort. It's Front wheel drive helped. Never let us down!

multi drop are making over a 100 drops per day, the amount of hours required to earn even the minimum wage is shocking, and yes they will often be paying for that van themselves. Push anyone hard enough and mistakes will happen. And the people that complain about the number of delivery vans on the road are sure to be ordering stuff online

5:20 nuts! The causeway at Felmersham is quite long. It was deeper than that when I went across the other day (on foot), just over the 2 ft mark. The water was level with the raised walkway and there was quite a current flowing.
