Such new Paradigm loudspeakers need warm-in to sound really beautiful, as expected by the factory :) Such warm-in usually lasts the first few weeks. There are special CDs with various types of noise for burn-in, you can probably also find digital files or special tracks on KZbin. You turn them on at a not very high volume level and leave them on, for example, all night long, or when you go to work :) and so on for several days in a row :) (if you don't have such CDs, they can be some different pop and instrumental songs) You can notice After warming up like higher-class loudspeakers, they become more refined in sound. Better articulation and a few other features. The same happens with higher-class subwoofers, which show their full potential only after a few weeks. Now, after over a year of "warming in" these speakers, do you see any difference in the door or is it still as impressive as when you first listened to it? :)

I was about to buy the 100F's (which are excellent) until I heard the 120's. The amp in the 120's are nicely matched, and allowed me to be much more flexible as to what kind of amp I wanted to use on these. They DO take a long time to break-in (longer than "several hours" that the manual says). And I ran 20-40hz into them for hours at mid volume for a day when I was away to speed up the break-in. A couple weeks later I had to re-run ARC because of the difference in sound over 2 weeks! In short - Incredible speakers. Love them more every day.
@mayssebmasenya91322 жыл бұрын
Agreed about the long time to break-in. It took me a frustrating long week before I could enjoy them (almost returned them). After that, I love listening to and discovering music through these (and I don’t have to limit my listening to “audiophile” recordings). Their highs are detailed and fast, and yet smooth. I was able to separate the individual voices in harmonies like never before. The bass is sweet, unforced- heavy as boulder when needed (when the music calls for it) and fast 🥊. I just love the music through these. And they are beautiful to look at, especially without the grills.
@avvidme2 жыл бұрын
@@mayssebmasenya9132 I actually was thinking of returning mine for the first few days too! The store told me to give it a solid month before I decide - glad I didn't return them! I would actually say that I had 2 break-in periods. The tweeter after a few days, and then the woofers after appx 30 hours of play and 12 hours of non-stop 20-40hz shoved into them.

The Paradigm Founder series were highly recommended to me from an integrator that I work with; said I won't need another set for a long time, if ever! I just set up my downstairs theater using the 120Hs for front L&R, 90C for front center, and 70LCR for surrounds. I still need to do something for 4 atmos, but need something with lower profile due to ceiling space limitations. The Founders sound great and I still have to set up the 120h's (base) using Anthem ARC then will use Dirac in the Storm to further calibrate. The Storm outputs to NAD M28s for amplification. I also choose black walnut. I integrated E5 inwalls for my family room theater with another 90C for center. Using Paradigms for both inwall side surrounds and 2 atmos speakers (was limited to two since my chairs are against the back wall) along with their 12in sub. I really should add a 2nd sub, but am very limited with space due to room layout. The sound is simply fantastic!

@@SpecOfTech It does indeed sound incredible. Thanks for your kind words. I would love to try the many brands that you have. I bet you've learned a great deal from that alone, not to mention the 'fun factor'. I've only had one other brand/setup that the Paradigms have replaced. The founders, as well as the E5's (and other in-walls) for upstairs, were very highly recommended and why I went with them. For a while now, and still doing until I dial the basement system in, I've been listening to just the 120H's LCR speakers only and I was very impressed with them alone. The sound stage was full, crisp, and very dynamic. I just recently got the surrounds setup and looking forward to 'calibrating' the entire system.

Beautiful speakers my brother. Congratulations on the newly acquired setup. I’ve been going down a Paradigm/Athem rabbit hole lately. We’re two months from moving into our new home and I thought I’d upgrade my Emotiva gen1 and 2 amps to the Anthems. I currently have 7 channels of amplification but will require 11 in our new home since our family room is being wired for 7.2.4. After looking at the amps I got sucked into reviews of the AVM70. I’m not sure how it compares to the Marantz 8805a, maybe the AVM90 would be a better comparison. ARC has always interested me so I’d love to give one of these pre pros a shot. And further down the rabbit hole I go because I’ve just watched this video. The founder series 120h’s are gorgeous. Unfortunately I have no one near me to be able to test these out. I believe you had Klipsch before, or at least demoed them. I have RF7ii’s, rc64ii, and four rs62ii’s. I’m curious to how these would compare. They seem to be just as sensitive as the Klipsch. Obviously a KZbin video can’t do these speakers justice, but I’ve heard the warmth from your short demo. Thoughts on my crazy experience? I’ve had the Klipsch since new. Should I just go full ham? 😂
@SpecOfTech2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my friend. I would like to compare the 8805A to the Anthem units one day, but it gets too damn pricey to satisfy all my curiosities lol. When I compared the 7706 to the AVM70, the AVM70 was the clear winner in SQ. The AVM90 would just takes things up to a whole new level for SQ. Those Anthem amps are beauties, I have been eying them down myself lately. They are a little to deep for my rack though. I might need a bigger rack. I am not sure how these Founders would compare to the RF7's, but I can guarantee they would have a warmer sound. I don't want to compare them to the RP8000F's I had, because that is far from fair given the massive price difference. I can touch on the sound signature differences. The Founders are a very smooth forgiving speaker, they are not shouty and not very bright in comparison. The bass on these hybrids is astounding, clean, tight and powerful. I would say they lean a little more towards favoring music because they are very forgiving and smooth. That doesn't mean they aren't great for HT, but they do smooth out the top end which can effect some of the higher pitched sound effects. It isn't bad, it is just different when you are used to brighter speakers and sound effects. The Founders look absolutely gorgeous, and are my favorite looking speaker to date by a long shot. The Legacy Focus SE look amazing as well, but there is just something about these Founders that really turns my crank lol. I am definitely not the guy to ask if you should go ham lol, my answer will always be a big HELL YES!

I am considering purchasing the 120H speakers. With the 1,000 watt internal amp how does the speaker get it's signal for that amp section to power the three woofers? I currently have a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 10s which I have bi-wired to my Bryston 4B Cubed amplifier. Do I just hook my bi-wired cables from my Bryston to the two sets of binding posts on the 120Hs? I'm assuming that the internal amp and woofers get their connection this way. Sorry if I sound a bit dense, but I have never owned "hybrid" speakers before.

I wonder if I bi-amp the 120h, what would be the wattage output of the power amp that feeds the bass drivers, because the signal is converted to digital and not used directly to move the drivers. Does the external power amp sees a speaker load? simulated load??
@SpecOfTech Жыл бұрын
Bi-amping the speakers would not change the wattage output of the bass section. It will be 1000 RMS regardless if you bi-amp or not. When bi-amping the speakers you would just be feeding the midrange and tweeter with their own wattage, versus them splitting it.

I've seen lots of super high end speakers that are just as beautiful but out of reach of the average person, these are a bit pricey also but still financially feasible if you really wanted them

The paradigm founders are on my short list. I'm really curious why you chose the 120h over the 100h? Your avm70 already has ARC and your system already has very capable subwoofers.
@SpecOfTech2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I simply wanted the most capable Founder speaker. Sometimes, I do like to turn the subs off and listen to 2 channel music. So, when I buy a tower I try to get the fullest range I can. The fact that they are a hybrid speaker really intrigued me as well, I have never had a hybrid in my setup before. They also have truly phenomenal bass because they are hybrid, the 100's are great but they don't have the same bass. The 120H is internally crossed over at 300hz and my AVM70 is crossed over at 80hz, so anything between 300 and 80 is handled by the tower.

Funny I was looking at both the focus and the Paradigm founder series which one do you prefer
@SpecOfTech2 жыл бұрын
Well they really are different. If you prefer a more laid back smooth sound, with rich warm mids and powerful bass, choose the Founders. Paradigm is also more consistent with quality control and much better customer service. Legacy has a more detailed clinical sound. They aren't in your face like a horn speaker though. I will miss the incredibly clear detail of the Focus. Legacy as a company was very disappointing, and their quality control on the Studio HD's they sent me was atrocious.
@brucecarter62052 жыл бұрын
@@SpecOfTech interesting. So many companies get the customer service side of things wrong. Also, I hate this new trend of releasing half baked products and letting your customers be the beta testers, or holding back features and releasing later via firmware update. Thankfully, this is not as big a problem with speakers, but look at all of the recent processor releases.🤦♂️

I'm curious the Paradigms are beautiful and awesome; I would love them in my home but wondering after watching your Legacy review why change out so quickly from what are also beautiful awesome speakers.
@SpecOfTech2 жыл бұрын
I changed from Legacy because their customer experience was majorly lacking. The multiple pairs of blemished Studio HD's and the 10 month wait for my side surrounds convinced me to move away from Legacy. I can't deny that they do sound amazing though.

@@SpecOfTech Appreciate the reply and condor, was always of fan of Legacy but remembered from your previous video what you went through and thought that might be the reason . My prior speakers were cherry and my RF7 |||'s are what they call natural cherry which to me are Walnut , but the Paradigms are absolutely beautiful and definitely have me thinking. I was looking at Focal but hearing their having shipping and wait time issues in the same time frame as your Legacies .Also the Focal line I'm looking into while sounding awesome their drivers are a funky yellow ,I have to look at these everyday and can only swing this kind of investment once .I'm a fan of what you've put together in the space you have ,blending amazing 2 channel hifi with home theater .

Hey brother! I’m getting these in my home theater. I’ve actually never heard them before in person because you’re in New York there is nowhere to demo them. I hired a company to build my theater for me and they swear by these speakers for my theater. I don’t mind spending up to $30,000 for a pair of speakers. I just wonder if I can get a better pair of towers for up to $30k for a pair. I’ve been told the JBL M2, Revel Salon 2, Perlisten S7Ts, JBL Synthesis, & PMC B2 are better than the Founder Series 120H but I haven’t heard any of these speakers. I just don’t want to buy these speaker and then need to upgrade shortly after. My room is 25.5’ X 23.5’, 11.5’ ceiling, 200” retractable screen, 2 huge SVS subs, anthem amp.

You can't afford these take a look at the paradigm signature S8. If you can get a set of these you can get them for around 3,000 Canadian. And although they are a bit older, I think they ran from 2005 to 16 or maybe 2008 to 2016. And they were sold as $15,000 set of speakers
