Update as of 2300hrs March 2 - We have 1 Apache on its way out the doors as we speak, just waiting for A Marrero to come pick up the keys… The second one is now available, and still up for grabs. Further info: 1) Someone let a spambot run rampant, informing everyone they were picked, but then wanted money too - this is now resolved. You guys quickly recognised it for the spam it was, and the account has been reported. Done. 2) I'd like to give a special thanks to "Flaumen TV" who not only recognised the threat, but responded to every single reply, so everyone was up to speed on this... FlaumenTV if you are reading this, reach out to me via email contact - found in the usual places - I would like to offer a little token of appreciation. 3) Another long-term friend of the channel, Bobik was messaging me every which way he could, trying to summon me from my slumber and finally my housemate continued checking to ensure nothing new emerged. These are the kinds of people we all need in our lives, near and far... 4) Apache wise - the first 100 comments + 1st Apache has already been earmarked, and with over 200 comments, a second one is waiting to leave the hangar doors here any day. I'll leave it open until Apache release OR 300 (whichever sooner), so we don't get too many... 5) The DCS pilot chosen for the first Apache, along with the comment that had the best impression on Helen is from “A Marrero”. She said there were a lot of good ones, eventually narrowed it down to just 3, and then settled on the one. I took a pic with her pointing to the comment. 6) A Marrero will be notified here, and to his comment, and in the next video. Keep an eye out for the second Apache soon thereafter, not long to go.

The Apache coming to DCS is a dream come true for me! I remember having a die-cast Apache when I was still quite young, around 4 or 5, and absolutely loving it. It just looks so *dangerous* and unlike anything else. I built 3 or 4 different Airfix models of it as I grew, and even had a small Transformers Apache! When I got my first "real" computer, a Commodore 64 back around 1987, I spent hours playing Microprose' Gunship. Then came Jane's Longbow 2, and ever since then I've been yearning for someone to leverage the power of modern PC's and create a new simulation of the Apache. Finally the dream is coming true, with not only a great recreation but it's coming to the best combat sim ever.

I think you can use it as JTAC? Or in the game at least as FAC which or what exactly do you want to do. The Editor gives you a alot of options. I used the OH-58 to lasermark targets for me for example.

21 inversions. I want the Apache so I can fly with my Dad. My dad has been the driving force behind my love for Aviation and my choice in career (currently an Aerospace Engineering student). My Dad’s favorite Heli is by far the Apache and it would mean the world to him for me and him to bond over learning how to fly it! It would be great to bridge the gap to have something so interesting to do and have fun with now that me and him no longer live in the same state. I love your videos man! Keep it up! P.S. I believe it was 25 inversions, although im not too sure. I love the apache for the technicality aspect. It seems challenging, but entertaining to go through all the pages and learn all the systems. For example when OperatorDrewski was describing the a-10 he said "You set a new weapon onto a pylon on the wing and then you have to click through six different menus to be able to tell the aircraft, hey there's possibly a new weapon on the wing." It is also just such an iconic and beautiful aircraft that even people who don't know anything about aviation could name an apache.

Hi, me and a friend started DCS a week or 2 ago and love it. I bought a entry level hotas and learning the free su-25 at the moment, but a full fidelity helicopter would be awesome to try out and learn. :)

You might want to try a full fidelity jet before you get the Apache... flying helo's is totally different experience, and while the Apache is cool, The F-16 or F-18 are almost complete and theyre both stunning modules.

I’d also suggest trying either the Huey, or the UH60 (free) mod before getting nuts deep in the Apache. Based on my experience in DCS. I bought a few full fidelity jets and struggled for a while, then I went back to the flaming cliffs stuff and after I’d become comfortable with the F15, the Su25 and 27, I found my F16 and F/A18 much much easier to progress on. There’s just so much to learn in a full-fid module, learning the basics in a simpler module first really helped me. YMMV, of course, but I’m expecting the Apache to be one of the most complex aircraft in the sim. I’m not saying don’t get the Apache, it’s too exciting not to, just get used to the chopper way of things before spending all your time in a super complex heli cockpit designed before usability/user centric design was a thing in aviation (this is true for most of the stuff made between 1980 and 2000). This process might make for a slightly gentler learning curve.

I’ve flown through the picture frame. I’ve also landed the Huey on top of the lion on the Vegas strip. I love the DCS choppers! The Huey is great for cargo and troop hauling - I often build up little worlds with the Mission Editor to haul people or cargo out to oil platforms or FARPs out in the middle of nowhere. Ground attack is also great with rockets - I like the unguided rockets best. Having watched this, I think it’s time that I learned some aerobatics! I lost count of inverted events - I counted 19 that were fully inverted no matter how briefly. There were a lot more that were close but not fully inverted.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the Apache and hoping to learn better what my friend has to know to fly his. He survived Iraq and his stories are 10% terror with 90% boredom. In the air force they tell you to choose the mission, not the aircraft, and I love the fun and varied missions I can do with the Gazelle! I enjoy flying the Gazelle and using it in different types of missions. It's a light scout helicopter with a weapon loadout that includes guns, rockets, guided anti tank missiles and even anti air heat seekers. I have no real life experience of flying helicopters except as a passenger, nor have I ever been in a fighter jet whilst it was airborne. I fly the gazelle in what I consider a normal flight regime and with some curves added to the jostick, and it seems all right to me - it's like a fast reving motorcycle, if you're not careful it will throw you of, but it rewards smooth controls. I don't try to do loops or other aerobatics, and didn't bother counting the number of inverted flights. I keep it low, beneath power lines day and night, dashing through valleys and popping up over an ridge to drop a AAA-site at a safe distance. Also it's systems are fairly basic, so there's not much to learn (relatively speaking, it's still DCS after all), which leads to more time in the air blowing things up - and most importantly, having fun your way :-)

My first experience with it in “simulation” was when I got the Apache Air Assault game and for my expectations back then it was brilliant…to this day the missions in it can’t be beat imo…and now it’s coming to DCS…would like to get it but if not I would save some money and get it when discounted…. Usually i fly fixed-wing in DCS, dropping warhead's on foreheads from a causal 35k feet while ignoring multiple RWR-Launch warnings cause i've been flying for the past 20min to the mission but i'm really looking forward to the Apache, delivering some "Rat-at-at-at-at-at's" and vortex-ring-stating myself into the ground with 1.200ft/min while attempting to land.
