They can do a protective pat down if the officer feels their safety is compromised. In this situation the man dressed as a cop could’ve easily had a weapon as well (since he’s dressed as a cop) and it turned out that she felt a gun and was right. An officer stop me informing me that i fit the description of an assault on a customer in a store. I used to run an online business and would sometimes meet local customers so they could save on shipping. On one such occasion I met a customer at Dunks, and as I was getting into my car I got grabbed by an undercover Lynn cop. He dragged me to the back of my car and pulled his gun on my black customer. As he searched my pockets he took my phone and pulled my customer out of his car and searched him. After finding nothing, he then asked what we were doing. We both cooperated because I could understand how it would look like a drug transaction. The cop then tore open the order (no shipping label) and after still finding nothing, called in backup, cuffed both of us and searched both vehicles top to bottom while refusing to give our phones back. Even when requesting my phone to call a lawyer he told me to shut my mouth and sit still. After ripping the cars apart and bringing in a dog they had to let us go and they were pissed about it. These cocksuckers really have no clue why people hate them. Its because of shit like this. I mean best case scenario, they bust a drug user. Big fuckin whoop.

Im not an officer yet I'm still applying to agencies but I did graduate from the academy a little bit ago and you can't just search someone to see if they have something illegal. You have to have probable cause to believe someone could have a weapon on them. In this case it could go either way but like that guy said this is covered under Terry v Ohio, the case law that covers this type of situation.

Not distancing from the subject. The success of a country has little to do with what religion the people follow. They did not identify themselves before they carried out a search. They misused powers and were not upholding good manners contrary to how a civil servant should behave. So whilst your holding hands walking in the street imagine how you would feel if you were in that position and how you would of wanted to be treated. The least they could of done is identified themselves and explained why so many of them are here. A bit of common sense would also tell you that the officers should of allowed them to speak without interruption and see the necessary paper work rather than demanding that all recordings to be halted and cuffing them.

The real POLICE don't know that until they investigate for themselves. Their search was completely reasonable because impersonation of a police officer in most states is a felony offense. That being said, you don't have to ID, or be searched. Do they say you were being detained? No. This is not the correct way to police. Why didn't they talk to you before proceeding?
