As a long time sufferer of Lyme's disease, I can attest to the fact that ticks are a nightmare. I had one Burtka into my head for about a week and that's exactly a week too long.

I was bit by a nymph about like a tiny spec of pepper. Had the huge bullseye, figured spider bite. As the years past I was sicker and my spinal cord was insane pain attacking my entire left side of body. Went through years of testing for MS as I have neuro diceminated type. Had a bad lumbar puncture, collapsed cervical from the leaks in spine. Had to have emergency surgery 😪 16 pins 4 rods n plates, day before surgery I tested positive for lyme. Only discovered because a dermatologist I had also had lyme. He gave me a steroid cream that caused the lyme to attack me like crazy, then he sent me for the blood work. It took 5 years and 4 disease drs from UC Davis, Stanford, and others. Not one disease Dr tested me for lyme. Now I have been through many regimes, but still have it and the symptoms are still horrific. I have yet to actually be sent to a real lyme dr. Most treatment is through my own research and a great dr willing to help me try different treatments. 🙃 our government should be held accountable, I am completely disabled now. I was a engineer. Now I just pray to get the an hour, a day, a night. It never ends. No one should have this!

I used to live in Houston, Texas and I went to this place (I think my parents' friend's house) and there were kissing bugs everywhere. I wasn't aware they had diseases but I was still kinda paranoid about them cuz I was getting itchy wherever they were. I'm glad I decided to shoo them away after I noticed they were biting me.

That could only happen if the mosquitos that bit you had diseases, because your immune system would fight off that disease and make you resistant/immune to it. Otherwise if it had no diseases, then the immune systems only job is to heal the small pinprick from the mosquito, and make sure it doesn’t get infected.

But most of the time people only suffer and not die (this varies on location because there are barely any ticks in my city so it is very rare for someone to get bitten, let alone get Lyme.
