I would add to that to make sure you research how the company could fit into your ideal job, so your answer doesn't just sound like, "...to get that a job from you that pays me because I'm desperate" and instead sounds like, "I know what you do, I know what I want, and I know how I'm going to make us both happy doing that".

@@DonGeorgevich I need your help. I would like to share my worst nightmare ever in my professional life. In the past, I worked for a multiple MNCs for 8-9 years from 2010 to 2019, and worked as Subject matter expert (Level 3) in Accounts Payable dept in the last MNC and left that organisation in 2019 due to a dirty office politics without a single promotion in that 5 years span. Later, Covid tragedy took over and I was kept hearing layoff news so much that I was afraid what if I do not get any job forever, and in May 2020, I got a job offer from a small organization and accepted the job role of level 1 in Accounts receivables dept. while I was still in fear of my career. After working for almost 2 years I then realized that I myself have spoiled my career unintentionally so much that I am suffering from major depression disorder by accepting the role of level 1 when I already have 8 years of experience and was at level 3 in the last MNC. I would be honored to have your valuable suggestion which will surely help me save my career in a way that It can pave a way to get uplifted in the tough market.

I have done a fair bit of interviewing and hiring in the IT space. The folks I interview have already been vetted by our HR people, with that said all I really care about is what have you done, what can you do and most importantly what do you want do and how are you going to get there. Answer those to my satisfaction and you got yourself a job.
