It's a pretty cheap setup. A custom-rigged drill would have the bit not only in reverse, but spring-loaded and retractable through the chuck, gear, housing right to the back. a powerful motor wouldn't be needed as it not going to need to exert any torque. This would give the illusion that he's literally drilling right into his head and brain.

That's why they're called " illusionists ", I think it's fun to watch the theatre of it similar to circuses like cirque de soleil, obviously none of the tricks are "magic" because magic doesn't exist lol. But it's still entertaining to watch if you don't know how it's done, although the person in the box and floating head are fairly common ones.. eg everyone knows there's a compartment that the person goes in, I don't think anyone thought houdini was actually magic lol - merely just an entertainer like sportspeople or musicians or actors. I went to see Derren Brown once at the theatre in a city - the psychological illusionist guy

As for the hammer drill act ive seen that in some show. Real superhuman i think the name of the show hosted by stan lee. Theres a monk in malaysia he can focused his qi to dull the pain. 1st hed demonstrade by laying on the tip of the spear. There were 6 spear tip up on the table if i remember it. Before lay down, he made this taichi move 1st, focusing his qi. After that the hammer drill. He done the taichi move again and drilled his temple. Theres a abrasive scoff mark on his temple. But the onsite host not stan lee, forgot the guy name wouldnt believe that the monk press hard enough so put a pressure pad on grip of hammer drill and do it again. The pressure pad indicates that the monk really presses it hard as he can and at this point his temple start to bleed but not serious just abrasive scoff. The host asked the monk is it hurt and the monk replied no it doesnt. Mind power!

That drill trick isn't using a flattened bit, it's using a hammerdrill bit. Those bits aren't sharp as they aren't meant to cut the material. The drill hammers the bit while spinning it, which crushes the concrete while channeling it out. You're correct about the direction it needs to spin, but the more important part of that trick is the drill being switched to "drill" instead of "hammerdrill".

How do you explain the hand extended out from "crushing the box illusion", he never moved his hand out of sight for even a second. (unless it happened when camera went to another view, which I doubted)
@HakanMB2 жыл бұрын
It was never the magicians hands. He went directly through the box till the stair-case. The hands are from his helper, who sits in the flooring of the box and in the wall as shown. =)
@unknow2102 жыл бұрын
@@HakanMB what I was talking about, if you look at the scene where he went inside the box, his hand never went "off scene" for even a second (unless they didn't show it on the video), thus when did he switch place with his assistant?
@MyMusic-cd3do2 жыл бұрын
@Hakan this could be one way to do the illusion. the camera cut doesn't allow us to see that part clearly, but actually when the second woman came out to push the box all the way, actually he did remove his hands for a moment and then they reappeared - see 6:23 (most people were probably misdirected by the girl when she does the 'shh!' finger on the lips.)

I'm not sold on the drill trick solely relying on the fact that "it's in reverse". Even if it spins in reverse, if it comes in contact with his head, the friction alone will give him burn or scratch marks. The drill is abnormally large and shiny. As long as you see the drill spinning, you think that it's "working". Also, being shiny aids in the illusion that it is indeed working. I think that the very tip of the drill bit "moves" so that when he puts it on his temple, the part that moves stays in contact with his head while the rest of the drill turns rapidly.
@sorenjensen38632 жыл бұрын
It's not in reverse, it needs to be in reverse to do the job it's meant to do. He got that part right. That is a hammerdrill, meant for putting holes in concrete. The isn't flattened like he said, but it isn't sharp as it's not meant to cut. The most important part of that trick is that the drill is set to the "drill" function instead of "hammer drill", as that bit does nothing if it's just spinning. It needs the hammer function to drive it into the material in order to crush it and channel it out. TL;DR The drill and bit are real, the trick relies on the general public not being aware of what it is, as people tend to think of drills in terms of putting holes in wood or metal (cutting)
