If you're not a soldier you can still be unwillingly involved in a war. That is arguably the problematic thing about a war. If it only affected those that take part deliberately, a nation could just resolve a war by dissolving its own army. (Ask the Ukrainians.)

4:36 I hate this question every time I hear it. Of course you're more likely to die at work, almost everybody goes to work, hardly anyone goes to war. Now ask me if I'd rather be in the middle of a blitzkrieg or sat behind a desk, I know which one is less dangerous! It's a ridiculous question. Just because I'm more likely to die at work than war doesn't mean work is more dangerous? It's like saying, "What's more dangerous, the surface of the moon or work". Well, the surface of the moon obviously seeing that there is no atmosphere and temperatures range from -130c to 120c. The fact that I'm more likely to die at work than the surface of the moon does not mean work is more dangerous! 🤦‍♂

@@supergran62 Ya know, I've realized a big reason why I'll never move to another country from my native Norway is that our reptiles, insects and arachnids are all rather harmless. There's only one venomous creature here which could possibly cause any harm to a human with its bite and that's the Common European Viper, and even that's very unlikely to kill most humans if bit, not to mention it's honestly rather rare to encounter one and they are shy enough to prefer to slither away of they sense us coming. Also no risk of dangerous sharks or horribly venomous fish or jellyfish in our oceans. You other countries can keep your insane murderfauna, thankyouverymuch. 😄

Yeah that sounds like the main thing to me. It's like how sharks are often described as less dangerous than various domesticated animals simply because most people won't actually jump into shark-infested waters! Cows cause far more human deaths than sharks in total numbers because essentially all cows interact with humans on a daily basis. But taking just any random member of the species I'd be less worried about standing next to a cow than swimming next to a bull shark. Which, of course, is how the cows get ya. Because we often forget to respect the strength, size and other potential dangers of domesticated animals. Similarly I imagine there are a lot of workplace deaths where people just didn't expect any sort of lethal danger, and were thus more careless than they might have been in a warzone, on top of the sheer unbalance in numbers.
