Thanks man. I tried a whole bunch of stuff, going at him with my base build, using certain spirits and pluck of many to drop his block bar, spell binder build , etc., but nothing was working. Specced into much regen fully and it took me three tries to beat him. The biggest issue is definitely his huge regenerating posture bar. With the fan regening much faster, you can take it down much easier

good method also is to use the stonedude transformation right before he lands after he threw the big axe, you can dodge the shock dmg with this and at the same time u deal a lil bit of dmg.

I went to the first shrine of chapter 6 went back to the great pagoda and can do this fight already but will anything happen if I beat him before I even start chapter 6???

You're meant to do this fight first before chapter 6 final boss, otherwise you'll need to fight the final boss twice for the true ending

I suggest you finish the game without beating him for the normal ending. Then click continue journey. You will start back before the final battle. Go and beat er lang and then final battle again for true ending.
