This is the easiest way to cut vinyl lattice that I've come across and I wanted to share it with you.
I had to replace a couple vinyl lattice sections that were blown away from a hurricane. The vinyl lattice needed to be cut to size. I show you how I did it. In the past I have tried other ways to cut vinyl lattice and something would end up going wrong. For example I've used a circular saw and the vinyl would chip or crack so I found a better foolproof way to cut the vinyl.
Tools used:
Rockwell Sonicrafter: amzn.to/2ClAa4e
Drill Driver Bit Set: amzn.to/2CrQW1A
Makita Drill Set: amzn.to/2S2v5U6
Screws to mount lattice channel: amzn.to/2RUL8mF
My new current power tool set 20V Dewalt Combo Kit:
amzn.to/2NLWmqc

Great video! One thing I could add is to mention is that vinyl lattice expands and contracts quite a bit on larger panels with temperature changes so be sure to allow a bit of space for these size changes especially pre drill holes for the screws larger than the screws used and cut the panels slightly shorter than measured or you will see the panels bowing quite a bit in the hot summers.

Circular saw with a finishing blade works very well too and is much much faster. I've used the circular saw hundreds of times without any issues

Thanks for the tip. If I have a large vinyl lattice project I'll be sure to get a finishing blade and give it a try. This project was just a couple panels needing cut and the oscillating tool made it light work. Thanks!

Good tips, maybe alumnus or stainless gutter screws will work. I’m heading out today to fix a lattice with no idea what it’s really going to look like until I get there. I have an oscillating tool, so definitely bringing it along

Good video. I used a plywood blade on my circular saw for that years ago. It seemed to work good with the small teeth.

Thanks for the tip. Whenever I will have a larger vinyl lattice project, I'll be sure to try it with a smaller toothed blade. Since this one was a small project of a couple panels it wasn't a big deal to use the sonicrafter tool and made it easy to cut.

Great job and tips.👍 You can also turn your circle saw blade around backwards and cut it without problems. It works on plastic siding also. Thanks new subscriber liked 👍 hello from Kentucky mountains USA

The best way to cut any vinyl product is with a circular saw with a fine tooth blade turned backwards. That's how I cut all my vinyl siding with a cutting table. That is if your doing long straight cuts of coarse. That being said, i love those oscillating saws, lets you do work and get into places no other saw can. Good job

What size channel are you using and what screws to attach the channel to the wood frame?
@DIYCrasher
@DIYCrasher 2 жыл бұрын
The size channel is whatever Home Depot carries. They only had the one size channel. The size screws I used were an 1-1/4" exterior deck screws.

Do you know of a staple gun that will go into the vinyl lattice? I want to attach a screen
@DIYCrasher
@DIYCrasher 4 жыл бұрын
That I'm not sure about. I'm sure an air powered staple gun would work but not sure about a hand powered one. If you want to attach a screen then possibly look into using 1x2 wood or plastic to use as a border frame for the screen to "pinch" it in between the lattice and wood. If you only used staples to hold the screen then it could lead to the screen being torn easily and could come out wavy looking. Maybe look on pinterest for some ideas.

How do you do it if you want in between vinyl posts that are hollow?
@DIYCrasher
@DIYCrasher 2 жыл бұрын
It should still work by installing it to the hollow vinyl post, if you think about how to install vinyl fence panel to a vinyl post it gets screwed into the hollow post. You will need to make a frame to hold the lower and upper sections of the lattice then also attach the frame to the posts.

Yea you're right! I didn't have the correct screws with me that day of the repair. I had to go to the hardware store to get shorter screws so they wouldn't stick out on the other side. I got 3/8" screws with a hex head that are rated for outdoor work. They would be the type of screws used for aluminum/ gutter work.
