Thank you for this. Very encouraging. I have SIBO, histamine intolerance and SIFO. Low FODMAP diet certainly does help. With histamine intolerance some foods you can’t eat that’s listed on the low FODMAP diet. Histamine intolerance has a variety of symptoms. It affects the nervous system, digestive system, immune system and all 4 receptors.

It’s a very pernicious - yet very misunderstood - disease. I’m glad you’ve found a way to at least keep the symptoms under control. Hang in there!

Dear dr. RUSCIO, thank you again for being an advocate of the fodmap diet and emphasising that the diet can actually benefit the gut microbiome rather than damage it, as detractors of the diet often claim. One point: broccoli is actually low fodmap in small doses, so not all cruciferous vegetables are high fodmap, luckily. Last, i really appreciate it that you underlined the effects of the female cycle and female hormones in gut troubles. I have noticed that my gut symptoms have changed in the past 5 years and in part, i think that is because i am in peri menopause. With the insights that you have provided in this video i can move forward in adjusting my diet accordingly. I wonder what your thoughts are on the sibo specific diet from dr siebecker and the cedars sinai diet by dr. PIMENTEL in treating ibs. Looking forward to a podcast on this topic. Best wishes, Reimara

I am diagnosed with both SIBO and SIFO. I already was not eating breads, rice, white potatoes etc because i couldn't sleep. I seem more bacteria than fungus, but i am doing better with fungal diet which has brocolli, Cauliflower cabbages etc You are right, one also has to pay attention to their symptoms.

I've done the low Fodmap diet for a lot longer than a few weeks. I've also done the elemental shake diet for 3 weeks. I've also done Rifaximin for three weeks. I've also done the probiotic treatment recommended on this channel. I've also done massive doses of antimicrobials of every imaginable type for several months. Other than the probiotic protocol, which had zero effect, during the time you're following one of the other protocols the SIBO is reduced. But within a day or two of ending the protocol and going back to a normal whole foods diet, your SIBO will be back with a vengeance and you will realize that nothing can truly heal you. Anyway, that's been my experience.

I am about to try digestive enzymes with HCL since I have no gallbladder and also have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Did a GI map test & loaded with gut bacteria overgrowth infections. Needless to say, I am feeling like crap. I also take probiotics and lots of vitamins and supplements.

I’d look into nervous system regulation and vagal toning. Stress and trauma play a huge role in gut health.

I am so sorry you have had this round and round experience also. It does get quite frustrating and discouraging. Some things to consider: 1. Do you take prokinetics after your rounds of treatment to prevent relapse? Prokinetics are often needed long term to prevent relapsing. 2. Could you have mold in your home or workplace? If you're in a moldy house, SIBO will always return. 3. Do you get frequent sinus infections and drainage? Often the sinuses keep re-infecting the gut and causing SIBO to return. 4. Do you have enough stomach acid to break down your food and kill off new pathogens and bacteria? If your stomach is not acidic enough, the SIBO usually returns. 5. Do you have daily bowel movements after your treatment? Often, you need prokinetics for gut motility and some additional help to keep the bowels moving regularly, like magnesium citrate or oxide.

Thanks for this comprehensive video! Thank you also for talking about the hormonal cause. I tried BHRT a few months ago and my digestive symptoms cleared at 70 % went fully back. I think the HRT triggered candida.

Please can you advise if there is a connection between SIBO and Thrush in women as I normally have them both. What would be best diet for me as treating both at the same time can be tricky. I am also milk intolerant and have endometriosis. I have also read that endometriosis have a connection to SIBO. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 😊 thank you very much in advance 🙏

Just eat a wide variety of different nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables every week (at least 30 different types) to grow a diverse culture of different bacteria in your gut and they will help you to repair your stomach lining and reduce inflammation.
