The head and legroom are quite good. I’m 6’-5” and it suits my needs just fine. There are videos of a guy who is 6’-8” and he states that he found it to be roomy enough for him (that was in the Gamma vehicle). The legroom is very generous actually. The seat rails on the Aptera displayed at CES were not the longer production rails. Those longer rails allow the seats to slide back 4 inches as compared to what we experienced at CES. I’ve sat in the Gamma prototype which has longer seat rails. The legroom available with those longer rails is even more than I need. Can’t say that about very many vehicles that I’ve ever been in. My size 13 shoes fit just fine under the dash and on the pedals.

I am 6'3" and sat in the Aptera at CES. In the position they had the seat at CES my eye line was right at the sun visor level, so I had to duck my head to see out, or recline the front seat back. It wasn't my favorite driving position, but was doable.
@aussieideasman849823 сағат бұрын
The seat rails being different to production is one more of many reasons why this was not production intent as advertised, but yet another fake prototype. Not as bad as having no motor; no ABS; and no glass on the roof and hatch, but it indicates how inept they are. Rails are very easy to get right first time.

Correction, the silver outer panels are just fiberglass with a vinyl wrap. It is not anything unique or special and it has to be wrapped or it will fade and lose structural integrity from UV damage. Aptera said for their launch audition, they will all be silver, but will offer other color options for later models. You can also order it without a vinyl wrap and they will provide you with the template needed to get it wrapped in whatever color you want somewhere else.

Aptera has a big sign in front of the car. They are proposing 11,000 solar miles/yr in Southern California. That's 30.1 miles/day. I listed the 0.1 just to confirm how close it is to 30. I wonder why the video says 40?
@aussieideasman849823 сағат бұрын
The sign on the ground says up to 40. Your 30.1 is an average that covers all seasons. It's also unproven, so of little reliability. They got it out of a computer.
@artsmith10317 сағат бұрын
@aussieideasman8498 No, the big sign in front of the car says 11,000 miles/yr. If 10 miles/kWh, that they are still promoting, is ever demonstrated, they hope for 11,000 miles/yr. That's 30 miles/day. We'll see. But they have backed off from 40 to 30, and now keep 40 alive by saying Up To. But if they average 30, they will get Up To 50, 60 or more. 40 has no significance in solar math for an array averaging 30. Listen to how Aptera has gotten people to refer to 40, as if it will be a regular hopeful achievement. I think they have deliberately constructed the confusing reference. Some new fanboys think this has always been the reference for 40.
@aussieideasman849813 сағат бұрын
@@artsmith103 We are looking at different signs and both are there. The one that says 40 shows they haven't always backed off. They take every opportunity to embellish performance claims, and to-date have never verified any of them, and that is across the board. They are about five days away from their promised testing of Herpes, and watch that turn out to be a non-event (as usual). If it isn't delayed by months, it will be done in-house and probably rigged. Nothing short of independent tests by competent testers in the field is acceptable. These testers should be government approved and used to get vehicles approved for registering.

The aptera is awesome but its biggest problem is the cost. The 400-mile 2-seat fwd version costs $40k. The Tesla model 360-Mile 5-seat AWD is a bit over $40k after $7.5k fed rebate. The aptera is supposed to be much simpler to manufacture because the number of parts is far fewer than the model 3. And yet, it costs about the same as model 3. It's also far less practical and far less proven than the model 3. The vast majority would choose the model 3 over the highly niche vehicle aptera given the same cost.
@michaelmay9958Күн бұрын
Rebates probably won’t be around thanks to Trump and Elon. Practicality is dependent upon use-case. Aptera is much more practical for me, especially being able to get over 150 miles of range overnight just by using a regular 120V wall outlet.

Why would Aptera bother to purchase equipment for production if their product were mere vaporware? Doesn't add up.
@aussieideasman849822 сағат бұрын
@@netscrooge You have asked this in the past, and have been given the answers. Make this time the last time you and other clowns ask. Aptera hasn't bothered to purchase the plant equipment required to build a production version, except in small places that further the increase in income. Take a look at the almost empty warehouse in Carlsbad. They haven't bothered to purchase inventory, either. For example, they have had an EMR3 motor in a glass case for well over a year and could only put one motor in the two fakes at CES. It is apparent Herpes got the one out of the case, because if they had another for it, they could have put that one in Apollo or just added the thing to the display next to the BINC and still remain in the case. They don't show their three Alpha's driving with later models any more, either, and I think it's because they have had to cannibalize parts. The best snake oil exponents are not afraid to throw money into the label or the bottle because in the main; more spent draws more sales and overall more profits than a cheap approach. In that light, thinking larger spending is evidence they are genuine is flawed logic. Since Jan B. took a brief post as CFO, their commitment to adding cash to make prototypes has significantly increased, but in the cheapest ways to make them appear to be genuine. It is my personal view that Jan has scared the bejeezes out of them after expounding her knowledge of Ponzi schemes, plus Trevor Milton going to jail and Paul Elio getting into hot water has made them more nervous. Asking why and not having concrete answers is no basis for 'adding up', so no way of drawing a conclusion they are genuine. Vaporware is still maybe -maybe not.
