The whole system is flawed, had it not been for these interviews this man would never been exposed. He is not alone and shows the crisis in the judiciary system. Its strange that these parliamentarians are acting holier than thou, let alone they shortlisted the candidate. This is highest level and how much more of this is happening on the ground . With all due respect, it is unfair to the candidate who applied for the permanent position as judge. The Chief Justice asked a question to the candidate, " How did you get shortlisted" The Chief Justice by her own admission in this video said that she looked at the nomination of the candidate, but she did not look closely at the nomination, and she completely missed that the candidate actually consented to his own nomination and that it is quite bizarre, to say the least, check timeline in the video( 8:40 to 9:07)This candidate should not have made the shortlist at all and in my opinion, it is quite bizarre, to say the least, that the Chief Justice by her own admission did not look closely at the nomination of the candidate and that she completely missed that the candidate actually consented to his own nomination. Who then is to be blamed for the candidate to be shortlisted and interviewed? It would seem shortlisting wasn't done properly & the panel isn't prepared enough & did not read the documents prior. In other instances it degenerates to. a disciplinary hearing where candidtes must offer apologies for judgements passed . Are there service standards really given so many outstanding judgements? No but it’s not the judge’s fault that he was nominated. In fact it shows that the shortlisting staff or members did not properly read the documents submitted. Now the judge must answer why they shortlisted him without reading his application properly. Indeed he was not a suitable candidate, but he cannot answer about his application being pushed further under the circumstances.
