I genuinely dont understand how someone who is going through something like a transition, also going through a messy divorce, has a 4yr old kid, no job, contemplating bankruptcy, moving across the country and SOMEHOW has time to be getting into a new relationship? Probably going to catch hate for this - this is not an adult that should have 50/50 custody of a child. Made the 4 year old sleep on the couch of a stranger because of homelessness, refuses to get a job, actively waiting for mommy to die to get an inheritance, etc. And actively abusing the good hearted nature of the current partner doesn't seem like someone that suffered as explained. We already know there is zero accountability being taken for the finances, it seems like that is probably a theme.

@Poemiserable
@Poemiserable 7 ай бұрын
Psychologically, it's actually very simple to explain. It's usually down to one of two things. One, they're a narcissist to the point that they want the attention more than they care about the bad press. Two, a lack of self-awareness and a kind of cognitive dissociation allowed them to get into the debt in the first place. That probably relied on them externalising their mistakes for years, to remove themselves from blame or responsibility. So, in a lot of cases, the person is incapable of seeing that they're the problem and they assume that Caleb won't see that they are either. They think he'll identify some other boogie-man that's to blame instead. And, give them some easy pointers to fix it.

You know, after watching the whole thing, I just feel badly for the ex-wife. Based on all our context clues, she was a Catholic stay-at-home mom with a house and a husband, who woke up one day and was told her husband was transgender (and, it seems, not allowed to have any feelings about that whatsoever). Meanwhile, Willow goes around acting as though the ex-wife was some sort of red-pill fantasy villain who upended _Willow's_ life. (By the way, the ex-wife and child would've had to have been in Arizona for at least _six months_ without any objection from Willow for it to be considered the home state of the child for purposes of custodial determination. So, being cynical -- and based on what was said in the episode -- it seems like the desire for 50/50 custody might have had a lot more to do with not wanting to pay child support than it did with wanting parenting time.)

@@nagkampa2781It is very difficult legally to get 100% custody for a child unless one parent just doesn’t care/ is negligent/ is abusive. Sometimes courts still give partial custody to documented abusers. Wanting 50% would read as wanting the kid to still have both parents, which if both parents are nice people, would generally be better for the child. Wanting 100% (to basically take your kid from their other parent) is super selfish if that parent is a good parent and person.

As a lawyer, they will not admit you into the Bar with a recent bankruptcy. You have to pass moral character and fitness which includes a credit check. If you have money problems you’re seen as high risk for stealing or abusing your fiduciary duties with client trust funds. They will not allow you to be an attorney if you have significant money troubles. I knew someone who had a bankruptcy on file from over a decade before and he had to do a bunch of additional things to get admitted to prove he had rehabilitated his money issues. It doesn’t matter if mom takes out a parent plus loan, you’ll do all that work and will end up with a JD without becoming a lawyer and have to be a paralegal.

Trans or not, you don’t make a life altering decision when your family is struggling! It’s equivalent to a part having a mid life crisis and deciding to quit job to become a singer or painter - something to that effect. Willow should have focused on protecting their family financially. Also when you are a parent it isn’t about you and your personal identity anymore. You become a unit with your family. When your kids get older, you can get more involved with hobbies and further defining your individuality. When you are married and a parent you have to first think of your family and how your decisions may affect their lives. You may really want something and have access to it to make you feel better or feel more you but you have to ask yourself … “how would I be happy if I couldn’t have access to this decision” and hopefully the answer is - “the love and wellbeing of my family”. They always come first just as your spouse would put you and your child first when it comes to their decisions. You become as one and it isn’t only about you- it sucks for a lot of people to hear that but it’s just the truth. Always make decisions based on what will move your family forward in harmony rather than first seeking your own interests.

Plus, I’d rather be doing the work than sitting in a jiffy lube lobby watching dr. Phil and listening to customers and kids scream. I know not all shops are like this, but plenty of them are. Sadly an oil change really is a nuance thing where someone like myself trying to get out of debt has to calculate the cost of dropping the car off to get an oil change while I work vs the time id spend doing it myself, and the 8 dollars I’d “save” using my weekend freelance job time to do it myself isn’t financially responsible

So my feeling about this episode is this: this is not a person looking for help or a wake up call. This is a person looking for a justification. I feel like they came here hoping that Caleb would be like 'yes you're totally right you need to declare bankruptcy and you're on the right track because your debts are that bad.' And in reality, the debts aren't that bad. The debts aren't catastrophic, and they have no answers because they have no desire to do anything but get confirmation that they're correct. They're not looking for a solution, they're looking for support for their decision. But that tracks with their mindset that since it's happening to them, their discomfort matters more than actually being an adult. They're unwilling to change or accept that they might be the problem with their financial situation.

Yeah, that felt like a crazy statement. The only trucks that are truly going up in value are the small ones, and it's because the economical, compact-to-mid-size Truck is seeing a resurgence after being dead for 20 years... Personally I think it's because Gen Z and Millenials have realized you can get like 80% of the utility of a pickup while also getting good gas mileage. It's why Mavericks and Santa Cruzes fly off lots, and old Toyotas and Nissan trucks don't stay on lots (atleast not where I live). Every other kind of Truck is following a normal depreciation curve. That or he is confusing the general used car market's weird behavior over the last 3 years (due to COVID shutdowns BTW) with a Truck obsession.

Let me get this straight: this person has been accused of “diddling” their kid, blames the ex wife for everything bad that has happened between them, takes advantage of their partners naive generosity, is so irresponsible with money that they would rather declare bankruptcy than take ownership and crack down on their spending, and eager for their grandmother to die to receive their inheritance, and when presented with the sad reality of their pathetic choices has nothing to say but to deflect onto the “quite of bit of money” they have coming their way? Maybe you have not had as much luck as most people. If you keep the great attitude, take care of yourself mentally, and physically, things will turn around. In 7 years from 26 to 33 I went from "loser" like you describe (more like lonely, self esteem in pieces, too much drugs and alcool, no carreer idea) to amazing wife, house, kids on the wayn, 100% sober for 4 years, happy and well paid at work, feel like I look good and kinda like myself ==> can seriously say happy. You have a solid head start on all the people who think it's society's job to take care of them. I'd recommand Jordan Peterson's '12 rules for life', a very solid essay on how to turn your life around when you are a lonely man. Saved my life, and many others it seems. Oh and if like me you disagree with a lot of his politics and societal takes, I swear the medical/psychological stuff (99% of the book) is solid, scientific and immensly helpfull :). You can make the journey mate, you have what it takes. The most difficult step is to believe and start changing. You can do it :)

Serious question: setting aside the argument about whether or not transgenderism is “real” - why in the world do we vehemently defend the person who married, created a child with, and pledged their life to a woman, but then have zero sympathy for that woman when she has a negative reaction to learning that the future she had planned for and the man she thought she married was not at all what that man promised he would be? I just think maybe cut the ex wife a bit of a break here, I’d love to hear her side of the story And for those who missed it - the ex took the child and went to stay with family, presumably because she felt like it would be a more stable situation for the child. She didn’t just run across the country randomly. It may still be wrong, but it is understandable

@@lieschen2634 I didn't watch the whole episode yet, but I am gonna go ahead and assume this person was not trans when they got with their ex wife and had a kid, so between randomly coming out and transitioning when you had a stable relationship in addition to the distancing language used for their own blood child, the wife definitely had good reason to leave. Like it's one thing if you were already openly trans and got married, but pulling a fast one on your significant other is pretty fucking wild. Sadly a lot of trans folk don't seem to get that, I guess they think that you should stay with them even if they never said anything as if that makes any sense.

I was looking for this comment. This individual calls their ex any number of names, accuses her of kidnapping the kid, and is sneaky pleased that the ex is being penalized for living at home with her parents to save money (while getting handouts to the tune of thousands from their own parent). Then, within two weeks of meeting this new woman, they’ve increased her total CC debt 10%, totalled her vehicle, and is taking cash out of pocket. And then giggling about it. Gross.

I don't care about the transition it self but having a baby with someone and little after that they transition? It would be rough at least 😢. This episode is weird.
