Do ya know what, Caleb.....this was fun, different, entertaining. There's 3 or 4 top guys who do this for us, YOU, Brian, Fomo, B the installer, that brighten my day. Thank you for that 👋🤗🇬🇧

For me it's Caleb and Vincent from HDTVTest, Stop the FOMO actually helps to stop the FOMO and B the installer shows up and visualizes how it's going to look at your place. His explanation to wall-mount the G-series correctly is great.

There were some interesting reveals. But I am curious what Sony does this year. How they improved from Bravia 9. And will they use LG Tandem OLED instead. Also seems like they might put MiniLED as their Top TV again this year. If the leaks are true.

I was just about to buy an LG G4 after my cross-country move… but now I’m mildly concerned about buying a TV with an outdated TV tech like MLA which if I recall is only like 2 years old. The cost isn’t a huge concern, I’d rather pay less.. but it’s a luxury purchase that I make every 5+ years. Should I go with a G5 for that tandem OLED business? Or it’s just another inconsequential industry switch to stimulate more TV buying?
@entreprenerd1963
@entreprenerd1963 Сағат бұрын
I like the specs on the G5. Should be able to present content mastered at 1,000 nits without using the white subpixel. Also, should come close to 2,500 nit peak brightness - which may work well for a 10 bit panel ( the full DolbyVision spec is 10,000 nits and 12 bits ).

@ The C4 seems about the same or so in brightness, I really don’t notice a difference. The G1 seems maybe a bit sharper in image quality though, mostly in SDR regular tv stuff. As for gaming and movies, both are fantastic. G1 is just that awesome that it’s 3 behind and still holds up. G1 is a 77” and C4 is a 55”.

I was one of the many who wasn't sold on anti-glare coating. I had a chance to see it in a bright room next to a s90d and it's not bad. I didn't notice any of the greying or color shifting I had noticed in some videos of the tech. I have a fully treated room for my oled, so my opinion is the anti-glare is a feature they wasted money on that could have been invested elsewhere in their oled tech. This might be a great tech for some of their tv models, not the top end oled. People at this level of investment would choose something more suited to a bright room than oled with a max of half the potential nits if windows glare was something they could fix with a curtain.

They looked a bit bloomy, pastel-ly. The reds were way too hot out of the box. I lowered the reds and adjusted the color. Still no go until I tried Movie mode. Things looked better, I had good skin tone, not great. I was hoping for great. I'll hold on to my Sony 65" X900E to see which 2025 set is the best and best bang for the buck. Hey Caleb! I have an unrelated question: WHO picks the album cover for the album displayed over your left shoulder? For today's video, it's the Beach Boy's classic "Pet Sounds" - which is wondrous in and of itself... But for all of your videos, each one has a different album cover displayed and I always look to see which cover you display and if I can recognize it (and appreciate the fact that you're displaying vinyl). You can answer this on "You Asked" or as an aside on any other video, but I was just curious the album cover choices/changes... Thanks, Jeff!

Modular Micro LED displays from Hisense or Samsung at an affordable price is the only way I will abandon my laser projector. At least then you can repair separate panels without having to uninstall the whole unit. I paid $1000 for my projector and get 150” with plenty of brightness. Yes the blacks and contrast are not the best, and no I do not have 10,000 nits of brightness. But at least I won’t have to break my back, or damage my drywall trying to haul one of these stupid 100” - 115” TV’s into my house. God forbid it doesn’t break after one year of use, causing me to have to haul it out of the house. The blind faith people have in these brand new huge TV’s not breaking down is mind boggling to me.

I realize you're trying to inject a little fun into what is otherwise a very technical discussion, but I honestly don't need to know which TVs are in the "devious overachiever" category because they're likely to have the most dimming zones, high peak brightness, and also to overindulge on Ole Smokey and sleep with my cousin Cletus. Seriously though, having just watched it, I can't think back on this video and latch onto what you were trying to get across. Some more traditional categories and recommendations therein would have been more helpful from my perspective.

So many TCL, and Hisense, I have no interest in supporting the Chinese Government! Thank you very much. Looking forward to Panasonic and LG! Of course next year they will have Tandem OLED with Phosphorescent Blue PHOLED!

SONY is dropping the "Bravia" name from it's 2025 TVs because NOBODY liked it and the 3 and 8 models were well below the quality of their replacements from 2023.

I don't know why everyone is crying about the antiglare on the Samsung panels. The S95D was next to many other OLEDs on the floor, and it was stunning! And compared to my 48" Gigabyte and 83" S90D glossy WOLED, it still looks far better vibrant. I think people get hung up on this "wet/gloss" look and don't realise in practice while viewing content - there is no colour/black loss. Just a lot less glare in lit, or heavy trafficked areas. Its my favourite OLED I have used/own so far.

You missed the 'affordable' AWALL microLED TV. I wish you saw it. Please consider doing a video on it. It was the best thing from CES BY FAR

1000 nits and 60fps... HD resolution at 85"... far from the best thing at ces.

@@mauriciot.p.3576 Wrong. As usual an uninformed person thinks they know everything. 4k with an upgrade. Do your research. Yes 60fps, most people aren't gamers so 60fps on a home TV is perfect. Netflix isn't putting movies at even 60fps so it's just for sports. MicroLED 4k at $10,000 is amazing to see the price drop so much this year AND a 162 inch for less than $50,000 is incredible. Hopefully a few years from now it'll be 1/3 the price

@@daiesison "60fps on a home TV is perfect." Yikes. Movies are filmed in 24 FPS. Some TV is filmed in 30 and some in 24 FPS. When you display a 24 FPS video on a 120Hz panel, it displays each frame 5 times perfectly. (5 x 24 = 120) When you display a 30 FPS video on a 120Hz panel, it displays each frame 4 times perfectly. (4 x 30 = 120) When you display a 24FPS video on a 60 panel it... golly gee what does it do. It interweaves by displaying every other set of frames in a 3:2 ratio using 3:2 pulldown which means every other set of frames you get a noticeable judder every other set of frames or so because 60 does does not divide evenly into 24. *That* is why 60Hz sucks. It doesn't matter if the input is only 60Hz. What matters is if the *panel* is 60Hz. This isn't seen on HDMI 2.0 devices that are 4K60 because the (120Hz, generally) panel adjusts down to 24Hz. The issue with the AWALL is that the *display* is 60Hz and that is so bad that it's difficult to purchase a new TV with a 60Hz display. I also *strongly* question the target audience of people buying 162" displays at 50k that want the "second best" of anything... never mind the like 57th best. Kindly pipe down. Grownups are talking.

@tim3172 yes, thank you for clarifying. Also, the smaller models are not, and can not, be 4k due to the amount of pixels. Take a look and you'll see.
