It's Chinese Pomfret which has more grey scales and sharp fins. Also known as Khapri Pomfret in some parts of India. Tastes better than white Pomfret and expensive too.

Pomfret fish is not expensive only in Bangladesh, but almost everywhere it is found. Here in India also it is expensive, in the fish market small sized pomfret sells at around Rs. 600/ per kg. to 700/ per kg.

The fish seller's way of cutting is different everywhere. In this part of the world thick gravy curry is prepared to eat with water strained boiled rice. For frying purpose, the smaller ones are used. Daam onk beshi (Prices are high) everywhere. In Pakistan prices start from Rupees 1200 and crosses 2000/-. Love from Pakistan.

Sir, the pomfret you are talking about is actually lake pomfret commonly called " Roopchand" in North India. Sea pomfret doesn't sell less than Rs. 700.00.
