A decent stylist will read their client and act accordingly. When I was behind the chair if I had a quiet client I didn't get offended and just made sure they were taken care of and ok. If I had a talker I had a talker. You figure out who you're dealing with. Sometimes your talkers even need a quiet time and the silent folks sometimes come in and need to talk.

The first guys results were far better than the second guys results. All that flipping and bending was uncalled for and in the end she ended up with a shorter version of what she started with. The first guy had a vision and he accomplished the vision in my opinion. I loved her new bangs though she did not, and he gave her a cut and style that she clearly is able to do at home. So if, IF I had the money to waste, then I would trust my hair to guy number 1.

One of my favorite and most pampered hair experiences was as a walk in to a JC Penny in Rochester, NY: I paid $40 for an Olaplex treatment/ a trim/ a blow out, and a style w/ a curling iron. I gave her $50 for a tip because she was so incredibly lovely and meticulous, plus she filled me in on the entire first season of Bridgerton. She did it because she was a nice human being. I WISH I could have afforded to give her $1500 ❤️

The most annoying thing about the 1500 haircut was that the client clearly had curly hair and maybe did not know how to style it. My favorite stylist in my city told me my hair is curly and taught me how to style it without any extra charge and it literally changed my life because up to that point I also thought my hair is "unpredictable". I paid around 60$...

I worked in the hairdressing industry and let me tell you how wonderful it is to hear a hairdresser / barber actually say that some people simply cannot afford to go to a hairdresser! This was my constant battle and used to anger me so much!! Once I had to organize a seminar for a kind of famous hairdresser who was boasting that a haircut in one of his salons was 500€😵 and that if you care for your hair you will not think about the price. He spent an hour on stage trying to convince local hairdressers to up their prices. But the hairdressers were loosing clients because of the prices. I think in his mind we were still living in the 80’s 😄 PS: We never worked with him again after that fail of a seminar 😁

I am not crazy for any of these cuts. Both ladies ended up looking somewhat the same as before, with a mild difference in length. The first hairdresser had a vision at least, and he went for it, even though I didn't care for it at the end. The second guy did not even have that. He twisted the hair unnecessarily, to make it look like he is doing something extra professional, he was twisted and bent down, which is also unnecessary. 17:29 for eample: he twists the hair but it ends up in the posiiton it would be without the twisting. Soooo..... Both of these guys sell an image. They, as persons and as professionals, have an image you can buy, and the salon gives you extra pampering. The haircuts were mediocre for me in both cases, the second guy took it too far with acting artsy and bending in each directions. We all know that second lady woke up the next day and she had the same frizzy, stubborn hair she always had and not even her SO could tell she had gotten a 1500 dollar haircut the previous day. This is an average haircut with a show around it. It's for the rich.

First of all - I think you're right about giving tips. A lot of people will cut of colour their hair, because they want to experiment, or can't afford to go to the salon. They will, most probably, at some point, when they have more money or want professional help. Sharing your knowledge on KZbin will not affect the industry, but might help some clueless broke person look and feel good, and those who go to the salons will know what to ask for, which is also important. For the 1000$ haircut - a bit "meh". The truth is, all the "structure, how your hair sets naturally, low maintenance at home" is something my hairdresser provides. And she is very much a hairdresser, a craftswoman, not a stylist. I think the price is so high because they are selling an expirience, and an ilussion of belonging into a better world. And people are willing to Pay a lot to feel like they are part of the magical world of champagne and celebrities, and feel special. The big Secret is you can feel special visiting any salon, if the people who work there are really good in their trade and listen to you.

I think these hairdressers really underestimate your job by taking so much money for something not so special. I had the best haircut ( and I have really curly hair) in Greece for only 35euros with styling too. And I don't need to go to a hair salon to feel like a princess or like a queen bla bla..Whatever you feel about yourself it reflects in your daily routine. Of course your hairdresser can make your confidence bigger but not for 15000dollars..! It's rediculous..So many people are starving out there and people are killing each other for 15 dollars and she wants to spent that money to feel like a princesess with an average haircut..Ok. I liked the first hair cut it looked stylish. They made sure the customer was comfortable and the hairdresser spent more time talking and understanding the lady's needs. Also you seen the results after the cut. It looked good. The second hair cut wasn't anywhere near the same the hairdresser didn't spend a lot of time talking to understand the customer's needs. I would have expected more from the second hairdresser then what he did to the customer I feel after all we seen of the hairdresser cutting the lady's hair it didn't seem to show much differents. The second lady didn't give a great reaction to her new style. I detected some disappointment her face.

I'm from the Southern Midwest and go to one of the more expensive salons in my town. For full highlights, a cut, and style, I pay about $125. I have very long hair and a lot of it. That also comes with a coffee/drink, a brief neck/shoulder massage, good company, and a good atmosphere. My hairdresser does a fantastic job each time and I've stayed with her for years. I absolutely cannot imagine paying even double what I pay to get my hair done, much less $1,000 or more. It seems like you're paying that much for a name and ego boost.

Which of course only added to the limpness of it 😩

I’m also very low maintenance with my hair. I have hair down to my low back it’s naturally beachy and wavy once or twice a year I refresh the layers and decrease the weight on top for more volume. I lost like 1/3 to 1/2 my original volume after I had a baby but it’s still thicker and twice as much volume and most other people I see. Every year I have to relearn a different way to cut my bangs because it changes every year. But in my layers I end up with probably 4-5 tiers of waves. It’s absolutely beautiful by itself I do nothing. If I straighten it 4-5 times then it naturally will dry straight by itself. If I wear it wavy it will train that way too. It looks best the second day after all the water has evaporated completely it gets silky after 24hrs. I can twist it up and sleep with it damp I wake up with silky neat and tidy curls… with freshly clean hair I can run my fingers through it with damp hands a few times every time it dries and it’s even better than these salon videos. I know I sound like I’m bragging but my actual intention is to say idk why the salon is necessary. Or perhaps I should say I’m very humbled that God would bless me with the exact kind of hair people spend money to have. I do nothing. I don’t even brush my hair. I comb it once when I get out of the shower and it never needs brushing it never gets tangled or anything. I wear it like that 3 days no tangles. I’ve been cutting my hair myself since middle school. I have a layering technique I use on top that I’ve NEVER seen any hairdresser do. It adds tremendous volume . But anyway,… I’ve seen so many before and after of people leaving the salon and it’s just so so . I’ve never been wowed by a salon cut ever in my life… color yes, but never a cut. It’s hard for me to believe I’m “blessed” so my only other option is to sound like salons are silly. I sound arrogant one way or the other. I hope to go to your salon one day and have you fine-tune my hair. I respect your opinion very much. 👌💯 I initiated my comment because you said she’s invisible. I agree. But I also only cut once or twice and I’m definite not invisible 🤣😂🤣😂 I get too much attention. That’s why I keep my hair just dark nothing special. Ur saying with the cost they add a lot of extra stuff. I’m a chef and I feel the same way about going to the restaurant. You’re not paying for food you pay for the experience . Lol and it’s not usually anything that special I just googled how often a woman should get her hair trimmed. It said 8-12 weeks for long hair. I guess for damage? Once again I’m going to sound arrogant but I’ve only see maybe 10 split ends my entire life on my head. It’s so thick. I only saw split ends when I was in middle/high school but I was still learning how to blow dry correctly… I’m so grateful that my hair is not something I need to invest effort in. I have other problem areas but my hair isn’t it . It’s just hard to relate to. I think probably my hair strength and quality IS BECAUSE I leave it alone. I see many people abusing the crap out of their hair and then always manipulating it… then have to get trimmed for damage. Just leave it alone lol

I started doing men (😂) I kissed every ass pretty hard. Men want their hair shampooed but nobody offers.....I did. I also sold more product than any 2 ppl at the salon to men. Hummm, this was very interesting. The psychology involved with the higher priced hair salons is reminiscent of brain washing and the alcohol didn’t hurt either. That being said some women are so beat down either by their job or spouse or just their life in general. They need that brain washing. I am an older white haired woman. At this point my hair is long because I really am unable to spend much time on my hair. Around 40 years ago I went to a hair dresser who cut my hair to “bring out my best features”, that is what he said and also what I heard from others that had been to him also. My hair was so beautiful & easy to fix however as it grew out it continued to look great. I never had the same wonderful results any time ever. That is a shame. I wish all hair dressers were that talented. During my years when I was working I paid a lot of $$$ in hopes to get the same results but I was unsuccessful. I do however love your videos. They make me laugh. Thanks for that.

I did NOT bleach it, as you told me not to, but I found out how to get it subtle like I wanted and still show up in the sun. My hair will take reds, greens, and blues, so I took some old manic panic vampire red and mix it in with my arctic fox purple rain and it came out just like I wanted. I didn't expect it work (as in enhancing the purple hues) lol but I thought I'd share that with you even though I don't have a photo for you. Thanks for keeping me from killing my hair.
