I'm a nanny and have worked for a few millionaires. The one had a 10k sqft house and after 5 years had 4 chairs in the formal living room when you walked in the house and next to it up 2 stairs was supposed to be the dining room. They had no table there because they didn't use it. The area was only used when they held benefits for their charity foundations... they were incredible people actually... Started a foundation in memory of his brother who died young in an accident... They raised money and helped (physically) build a school in a low income area of Las Vegas... I digress... They would fill the 2500sqft area with tables... They woukd put a huge Christmas tree there... OOOOR THEY HAD A 20FT TALL BOUNCE HOUSE SET UP FOR THEIR DAUGHTERS. 🤣 😂 The father was a Midwest guy who HATED how large the house was and wished it was 1/3 it's size.

From time to time I watch these huge, incredible expensive buildings, and much like you just shake my head. And then I go on a binge of checking authentic castle, manor houses, and villas for sale in France and Italy that cost 1/20 as much. Granted, they are obviously not located in expensive areas on par with New York, LA, Singapore, or some such. But it is just incredible what kind ancient architecture and art you could buy (if you were a dollar multi millionare).

And here's the incredible view from the Primary Bedroom... It's the ocean. The people in the row boat escaping the Titanic had pretty much the same view. Literally thousands of miles of places along the coast with the exact same view. That doesn't make the house special. It makes the ocean special.

The 'Crescent house' from outside looks like 'Brutalist architecture' which was prevalent in the UK after WW2. It reminds me of a very old shopping centre with the bare concrete and slopes. Looks like they have for some reason doubled the selling price from just over 11 million in 2014 and i guess it being used in Westworld season 3 increased the price. The end of the closet table is for your morning piece of cake. I loved the way he says he saw it as a place for older people then decided to make the inside as dangerous and awkward for anybody who may haver impaired mobility 'Climb out of your bath hole old person'.

Honestly, this house looks like the architect just was given free reign, and decided to put every impractical ideas he was refused when doing actual houses. It's one of those houses that "looks expensive" but in which it'd definitely be a nightmare to live in. Also paying 23 millions dollar for a house that is basically concrete gray, and glass sounds like a ripoff, seriously, this shit looks like a prison.

That bath hole looks incredibly impractical, dangerous, uncomfortable, annoying, and again dangerous because you might trip and fall in there by accident looking for your tooth brush. Of all the rich people baths, I think I like Jessica Alba's the best. She put a bath tub inside a giant shower so you can be in the tub while someone else is showering, and you don't have that cold air hitting you while you bathe. She really put some thought into that, which did wonders for my OCD. I was gleeful.

I did not do the same thing in pools as you but I do enjoy 'seal diving' into lakes and then blowing out all my breath and laying on the bottom of the lake (curled up in some form, kinda like a rock) for a moment before pushing back up. Especially at night when the water is peaceful and there's no light shock. Maybe weird...but it's so peaceful. feeling the temp change and then you're just chillin for a few seconds in complete silence. I've only done this when at least one other person is with me (y'know, safety precautions and sh*t) but ye, do it if you think that sounds interesting, I was only ever about waist/rib deep, so there's not much to go back up to air. 8:21 into this video, and I agree with you Kris of the 23 million dollar house: it's a bad design and not worth the cost. But check out the yauct world. A second hand, 85 foot yauct for $1.75 million is very fancy, and at a top speed of 25 knots (around 28 land-miles per hour), that is relitively fast for what is an 85 foot luxury mobile home (AKA trailer) on the water. A yacut club is basically a floating fancy trailer park for rich and upper middle class people. I don't mean that in a bad way though. Just that a yacht basically is a floating trailer, just bugger. Most of the smaller yaucts aren't even isolated, but they are still really cool.

As a french student in architecture, i totally agree with you. This house looks impracticle. I'm outraged by such an amount of money spent to show off bad architecture. To me, it doesn't help the discipline to be respected as there is a basic logical problem. I mean architecture is made to be lived and not to build some sort of a esthetic sculpture. But if the customers are happy with it I suppose that I have no reason to be outraged.

my biggest issue with the library wasn't the dusting (you don't think any of the residents ever touches a duster themselves?!).... it was: WHERE ARE THE BOOKS?? You have 2 stories of closet space, but it felt like in my tiny apartment I have more bookshelves than that library offered! you could have at least added some fake books. you used to be able to buy smart-looking books by the meter to fill the space and look well-read :D I also only have like 3 friends, but you could at least just open an invitation to your followers and have some people to sit on your many sofas xD
