Very informative and interesting, I want one of each of the vft’s. So happy to see you kicked those fungus gnats butts.😊

Thank you! Yea I definitely want to have all of them one day haha. I don't think i'll have enough space though 😁 no more gnats! Now we let the plants get big enough to eat the adults before they have a chance to lay eggs! Have a good day :)

any other types i may want to look out for if i just want big traps but shorter leaves? iv seen pics of nice compact looking plants in other videos but don't know what the names were ... you made it sound as tho bristle tooth may be one, anything else that may be large but still compact package? (what i mean is i'm trying to find something that that doesn't try to reach its traps out so far) .... thanks for any ideas and keep up the good work.

Thank you for your kind words! Generally the traps get “longer” as the traps get bugger, but there are definitely some that have a big trap but stay short. Check out cpphotofinder.com for all the different types of Venus flytraps. That site is a picture database of all the different types of carnivorous plants you can get 😁

Great video. I have recently caught the VFT bug and ordered seeds for a number of different cultivars: Trev's Dracula, B52, Big Mouth and a Red. The more I watch your channel, the more plants I want to grow. Looks like you've lost some weight.

Yep! The VFT big is a nice one because at least the plants are easier to get than some of the nepenthes and sarracenia haha. The more I make the videos, the more plants I want to get and share with you guys haha. Thanks and have a good one :)

vft cultivar seeds make typical flytraps. you might get a cultivar from a seed, but they almost always make typicals.

I have hundreds of typicals in one pot I started back in 2013 all from divisions of one plant. I have videos on KZbin of them since day one check em out, I repot them every yr in a bigger pot. A few yrs back I got some DCXLs and Goldstrikes. I think the goldtrikes are beautiful, not well known and hard to get. There deep maroon with bright lime green almost yellow lips with short looking shark teeth. I'm glade I have em. I can't wait to have as many DCXLs and goldtrikes as I do typicals.

What if you cross DCXL and B52 together to see what you get?
@brandong530
@brandong530 4 жыл бұрын
question a true cultivar comes from a division not from seed I was reading about this that the seed would hold some of the traits but not completely even if you breed two of the same cultivars the only way to get a true cultivar is by a clone does this hold any truth
@TheFlytrapGarden
@TheFlytrapGarden 4 жыл бұрын
Yes that's the truth! A cultivar has to come from a plant that has the exact same DNA as the registered cultivar. Seeds have genetic differences due to genomic exchange, crossing over etc etc and so the DNA, while similar, is not exact and in such the offspring will not have the exact same DNA as the cultivar, resulting in some morphological differences which is not found in the registered plant.
