The Stealth 9 woods have had manufacturing issues, so I went with the Callaway Rogue ST Max 9 wood and WOW what a club. You can hit this club from fairway bunkers, deep rough, any lie and it flies High and Long. Great Video, I also use the Callaway Chrome Soft Max ball in the Yellow.

As an older golfer, 68, and having trouble with traditional 3 & 5 woods, bought the Cleveland Hywood to start this year. Best investment yet. Maybe not as long as 3 or 5 woods but can hit it well more consistently, making the next shot easier. You lose the distance of 3 & 5 woods when and if you hit them right for more consistent distance.

I love the 7 wood I have just added. I am now carrying, driver 9, mini driver at 14 degree, 3h, 7wood. 5-gw, 2 wedges, putter. I have an odyssey chipper also that I will take in place of the mini driver or 5 iron. Covers more than what I need. Best thing I have done this year though is have lessons and work on positive changes in my swing and game. Great video though. Keep em coming.

Hi Andy, my first comment. Like your videos and this one is just what I need. I'm looking to upgrade my irons this year and have been confused on whether I should gets irons hybrids or the fairway metals. Ego says I can hit the irons but your video has helped me to look at more forgiving options. I got fitted for a PXG 0211 driver last year and have 5 wood, 3 and 4 hybrid and 5 to lob wedge. Keep up with the great videos. With your new facilities I'm hoping you will be producing more videos more often. Haha

I got a Odyssey White Hot OG Putter with Stroke Lab Shaft, it is really good, and the face is square when it hits the ball and keeps it on line, the other club I got was a PXG Gen 5 XF 4 Fairway Wood, easier to hit than the three wood and goes just as far. Like the idea of the 7 & 9 Fairway woods for forgiveness which at my age may be coming soon.

Cleveland make awesome wedges. I have the a 56 and 60 in the CBX range and they are brilliant. To get the most out of them you still need to use them correctly, so getting lessons from a pro that is great at chipping and pitching is advisable.

I play Ping G410 irons. I have made a couple of purchases in the last year that have made a real difference in the game. First I went from a Ping mallet style putter to the Taylor made, I believe, Spyder putter. Very forgiving on off center hits and has brought my putting average down considerably. The putter featured in your vid is of the same style. Next is an interesting wedge I purchased based on a Rick Shiels video. This is the Cutter wedge. It just works. Out of bunkers, rough, tight lies and up to 70 off the green. I have the 56 degree model. Check it out. Very different shape. Very easy to hit, very versatile, also quality build. I can't recommend it enough.

Good video! I think the biggest and probably the hardest call for many average golfers to make is the choice of irons - something that looks good, or something that gets the ball moving in the right direction? I guess many of us are better golfers in the pro shop than we are out on the course!
@markshepherd2779

Good video. Recently I upgraded my driver from a Taylormade M6, which is a great driver and is very long if you hit it right out of the middle. The driver I eventually purchased wasn't the one I was looking at. The one I was looking to purchase was the Callaway Rogue ST Max, but it just couldn't cut the mustard when compared with the driver I did purchase which was the Cobra LTDx Max with the Mamiya Helium 5F3 Shaft. What a club... brilliant, so forgiving, more versatile than any other driver when setting it up to suit and off centre hits can still end up being great. Plus I am hitting it 20 - 40metres further than the Taylormade. Cobra drivers are very underrated and previously I wouldn't have considered them, not anymore. Cleveland wedges are very underrated as well. The pros go one and on about Vokey, probably because they can access so many different variations as well as many pro's are given pokey wedges free of charge, but the Cleveland wedges are absolutely brilliant. Just a small comment about the Ping Chipr and the commentary on the the club. Firstly, a club can't be "One Dimensional and Versatile" in the same sentence. Which leads into the next issue with having a one dimensional club and that's the price... in Australia the Ping Chipr is retailing for $330.00. The only other one dimensional club that would be as expensive or more expensive depending on the brand and type you buy would be the putter. Absolutely ridiculous price for a club you might only use a couple of times during a round. Personally I would say to you... spend the money on you and get some lessons and then spend the time to learn how to use you clubs in different situations. In the long run it will be worth it and it will pay off in all areas of you game.

Great informative video as always Andy. My 2 best discoveries as far as forgiving goes this year has been a 4 Hybrid from Callaway. It’s the Apex 21 and has a larger head mass than the Apex pro hybrid and also has an adjustable hozzle. This allows at least 2 degrees on its 21 degrees, but can be set for draw or fade depending on your strike. That’s pretty forgiving. The other forgiving clubs I got this year is a set of Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedges in 50, 56 and 60 degrees. These wedges have helped my short game a lot and I’m much more confident on approach and around the greens with these wedges.

I prefer the 7w over the 9w. The problem for me was gapping. With the same shaft in it as a 7w, the 9w carried within 2-4 yards of the 7w and with a shorter shaft it carried only a couple of yards longer than my 4h (set 1 degree weak at 23 degrees). got a new G425 5w in the bag which flies 15 yards further than my 7w (although it is very loud) so long end of bag is covered. At the other end of the bad, whilst I do not struggle with my wedges, I am inconsistent with distance control - those smart sole wedges look interesting and might benefit me

Andy, I am thinking of having a club fit done. I understand if I go to a brand eg Ping, that they would recommend Ping. But I am looking at going to a coy that says they are brand neutral (which is what I prefer) - at the end of the fit they will recommend a set of clubs that they would then build up for me. I have asked what sort of information/report do I get and takeaway from the fitting - they only said that they produce a build sheet which they keep and they use to build the clubs (the average build cost is $4 to $8k AUD (Australian $). As I am paying a few hundred $, I was expecting to go away with a detailed analysis/report and specification for every club. But this does not seem to be the case. I was thinking I could get a club fit and then buy the clubs etc any where I wanted to, or I might decide to buy some clubs now and more at a later date, due the cost. I have contacted several fit centres and not one has said I get any sort of detailed report to take away - I think this is a big mistake. What do you think ?
