Can I just say this, because absolutely no one I've seen has made this point. In that Toronto series, with KD injured, is that not drastically differ than the 2018 rockets vs Golden state series that the rockets were winning? People give them credit for winning, and then fault them for the missed 3s. However I see very little in the way of giving credit to the Raptors for being up 3-1 against a KD-less Golden state

I think a lot has to do with the fact that Ryan played in Europe for a while. He knows that putting Luka’s stats at the time were just unbelievable. Others disrespected those stats, because in their eyes the performance was average (eg. putting 15 points in a game), but the reality is completely different.
@diogomiguel1127

It was more like because America did not respect the Europe players that much. Lately thought more and more talent been coming out from Europe and like...Europe focus a lot on position play, a lot of team plays and tactical based basketball. While in America they focus only a lot in athletic ability and they see the athletic ability of one player as the most important attribute of said player. Most europe players can't reach the level of american players when it comes to athletic prowess.

Good on ryan hollins for being right, but I think the main reason why he didn't get the credit he deserved is because they dont pay as much attention to anything outside of college basketball. People probably pushed him to the side thinking he'd be risky when in reality he was the most sure thing prospect of the decade. He perfectly fits the way the game is played, and showed he could thrive in the second best league in the world. A lot of times younger guys dont get many minutes in the euroleague, and a lot of times the guys entering the nba from Europe didnt have big numbers. Luka ran the show for one of the best teams in Europe since he was 16 or 17, that is unbelievably rare. If he did the equivalent of that as an American nobody would have thought twice about drafting anybody else number 1, he genuinely should've had more notoriety than zion. It shocks me to an extent that vlade passed him up considering he knows how difficult the euroleague is, but than I realize it's Vlade Divac and I'm not surprised.
@blackappleslo
@blackappleslo 3 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% with you. A lot has to do with the fact that Ryan played some time in Europe and knows how hard is to put those numbers (less playing time, more defense under the basket etc.). Others were just focusing on the numbers and didn’t understand the whole story.

Okc's record got better in 12-13 without Harden. It came out recently when Harden was hitting up the clubs to get traded out of Houston that he was more concerned during the 2012 finals about hitting the Miami clubs than he was on the game and it showed in his play. Pat Bev took out Westbrook's knee that next playoffs.
