I was playing with Tonka trucks, with my friend David, back in 1971 in his bedroom, which was on the 1st floor of a 3 story Spanish Adobe mansion in Espanola NM. We were both 11 years old. He suddenly looked up past me and stood up and ran out of the room yelling "Mom! Mom! She is in my room!" As I turned around and looked up, I saw a beautiful woman standing and looking down at me. She was dressed in Victorian style dress, high collar, with her hair up all around in the large halo bun style popular at the time.. I stood up to speak to her and tried to reach out to touch her, as she backed away. It was then, that I realized that either I could see through her or that she was behind the windrow sheers and I was looking at her through a large window... I thought, maybe she is on the porch outside. So I pulled the sheers back and looked out the window, but it was over 10 feet to the ground. She faded away when I looked out the window. This was late in the afternoon in July. The sun was still up. The next morning, our mother's both went up to the 3rd floor attic with all of us kids following. The attic was strewn with old clothes, papers, letters, some old chairs, and other artifacts and antiques from long long ago... My friend David found an old original Indian bow and arrows tucked in a cubby on the wall.. I began picking up papers and letters and reading them. The letters were from a woman named Caroline, to her husband who was in the US Army. A Captain, involved with chasing after and fighting Pancho Villa's troops on the southern border. As I glanced over at the big pile of clothing and miscellaneous, I saw two eyes looking at me from the pile. I told everyone "do you see the eyes looking at us from that pile?" They all looked and looked and saw nothing... I kept my eyes on those eyes so as not to lose them, I stayed locked on them as I crawled across the pile and reached out to grab them.. completely unafraid.. I grabbed and grasped onto them and pulled out a square satin pillow case with a hand painted picture on it of the woman in Davids bedroom... David suddenly proclaimed "Mom! That's her! That's the woman who keeps visiting me in my room!" And I confirmed that it was the same likeness of the woman that I saw the day before.. Our mothers faces turned white and we suddenly noticed that they stopped ridiculing us for telling them "fake ghost stories" .. The city of Espanola has since torn down that historic structure, which was a crime in my opinion.. But I learned later, that it had been used as an orphanage after it had belonged to the original owners, who had owned the original mercantile there. It was NOT the same place as the city claims the mercantile owners built much later in the 1930's .. But through research I believe they allowed the catholic church there, to use it as an orphanage. I went looking for it, but found only a large parking lot and a catholic church built on that spot today. It would be great to ever know more information about her, but I was not allowed that, being so young at the time. Times were much different then.

That's sad that the house was torn down. I've lived in Espanola for 37 years and it would have been so amazing to see that house!

That is an amazing recollection. I'll ask my family (Alarid) who has lived in Espanola and surrounding towns forever, if they know of it. The church is the historic La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada (Holy Cross) built in the 1600s. My parents RIP, and family went there and to the Catholic school.

The Saint James hotel in Cimarron New Mexico is absolutely haunted. There are bullet holes in the ceiling of the bar room. That place deserves its own video.

Can absolutely attest to Cloudcroft being haunted! Also, the Double Eagle in Mesilla. That one has such an ominously quiet feeling when closed until you get into the front door.

No, you cannot "attest" to any place being haunted.

My great uncle live just north of Cloudcroft and when my mom and I visited we had plans to stay at this cool old western style hotel. He basically forbade us and said no you will stay here. In the day time we were ok to go wherever but he wanted us back to the house by 6 pm. Never figured out why though

I’m originally from Glorieta,NM. There’s quite a few Civil War Ghosts haunting the mountains there. Have been to most of the places that you mentioned, and have had some really creepy encounters. Lived in Regina, which isn’t too far from Jemez. My Daughter and I experienced a full bodied apparition while hiking the mountains near our home,as well as several Native American Spirits. I’ve had some really frightening encounters with Skinwalkers and La Llorona.😳 Thanks for covering my home State!😊

Look up Tularosa, La Luz and Chaparral. All three of these towns are in Otero county with Tularosa being in the north, La Luz just south of Tularosa and at the bottom of the county, Chaparral. Cloidcroft is 20 minutes away from La Luz. Alamogordo has a history as well with Tularosa and La Liz being the most active with some terrifying history.

I live in Pecos NM and also lived in Santa Fe for a few years and there's a lot of spirits still roaming the mountains and streets of this beautiful magical state. One of my strongest encounters came when I visited the old San Miguel mission in Santa Fe and it was so intense I got nauseous from it. There's 2 native American spirits that are still inhabiting that old churche and they're not the least bit happy to still be there.

Haha, our family ghosts are probably haunting the hotel because of our name, Alarid, being erased from the hotel's history. The La Fonda in Santa Fe, since the 1600's were modest inns and one of the earliest and most prominent was La Casa Alarid, or The Alarid House, that is my family's namesake. About 30 yrs ago, the hotel used to have a small replica model of the Alarid house/inn and its history displayed in one of its smaller lobbies. Whenever we were in town we would proudly go to see it and reflect on our family history in the town and state. Sadly, It has been put away in La Fonda's attics or storage area, hopefully not destroyed. Even the newer out-of-town tour guides are unaware of its origin. I really wish they and "historians" knew the real history, and at the very least, its original name. My niece who relocated to DC came back with her husband to show him the city and hotel, took a tour and had to educate the tour guide of its history. It was only recently since the 1920s that it was renamed La Fonda when it was rebuilt as a large hotel. However, Mexican residents during the era of the Mexican-American War (mid 1800s) referred to it as La Fonda Americana.

There are 10 Pueblos along the Río Grand, Taop Pueblo being the Northernmost; Zia being the Southern most. You made no mention of these places. Why? New Mexico was ALWAYS inhabited by the Indigenous People. But, on the other hand, you probably wouldn't be allowed past designated visiting áreas, since you are outsiders. Unless invited, you would be considered tresspassing.

And I'm a New Mexican blacksmith and custom knife maker and just a couple storefronts down from the La Fonda is the Santa Fe Cutlery shop run by a very nice man named Alan and there you can see and purchase some of the knives I make. I'm in the beautiful Pecos mountains just east of Santa Fe but soon will be relocating to Santa Fe. What does this have to do with the theme of the video? Well I put a part of my soul in each knife I make and when I pass I intend on haunting each blade I've made 💀💀☠️💀💀 😆😆 just kidding.. or am I?? 😆 Seriously though go check out the Santa Fe cutlery and as for (Mallett) made custom knives.
