The Patriots brought the hype whenever they played against another contender in 2007. I believe that this game was the most watched regular season game of all-time up to that point. Then the Patriots-Colts game broke that record in week 9. And then the Week 17 game between the Patriots and the Giants that was simulcast on NBC, CBS, and the NFL Network for legal reasons (the courts threatened the NFL's anti-trust exemption because the game was originally going to be broadcast exclusively on the NFL Network) broke the record. The 2007 Patriots were involved in three games that broke viewership records for regular season games that year.

@linollieum37423 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it was savage it was calculated. If they kneeled on 4th down it's an instant turnover and they would kill no clock on 4th down. Scoring may have had something to do with the Patriots "spygate revenge tour" and such, but wouldn't kicking a field goal be running up the score more since it does nothing but pad your points? That's why the Patriots always put in the backups and just went for fourth downs when the score was out of hand instead of field goals, like the 59 to 0 titans game in 2009. Just keep running plays and burning clock until you either score or turn it over on downs. You're not purposefully running up the score, you're running out of space to kill clock, though scoring is a bonus. If they kneeled on 4th down in this situation the clock would stop anyway, are the Cowboys then going to just return the favor and kneel and give up, or are they going to take a deep shot down 14 to see if they can't get a miracle deep ball touchdown then go for an onside kick and then a hail mary for the tie? Extremely unlikely but it's not a 0% chance. The game was still basically over so it's not worth kicking the field goal to make it a three score game and having people complain you run up the score, but it's worth not just kneeling it and running no more clock and giving the ball over to them to try chucking one deep. If you're not going to kick the field goal and run up the score may as well just have the backup fullback (yes, backup fullback/last man out of six on the RB/FB depth chart) run it to take off a couple more seconds back them up even closer to their own end zone and potentially just score and fully put the game away. Miracles happen when you expect them the least.
@SparzWizard3 жыл бұрын
@@linollieum3742 In my view, the game ends when the clock hits 0 in the 4th quarter. So, if you're up by 2.5 TDs and on 4th and goal? Go for it. I would say it's "running the score" if they kicked the FG. The Cowboys' defense can still stop the Patriots at the goal line.

I'm not so sure he couldn't throw it 50+ still. The problem is two fold, one the O-line is useless this year and then who is gunna be down field to even catch a 50 yarder Edelman, Sanu or a guy who was on the field that day against the cowboys Ben frickin Watson. When they bring AB back we'll see what he can do with a real deep threat receiver.
@SmugTomato5 жыл бұрын
For real though. Brady was flicking that bitch 70 yards like it was nothing. He can still get it that far now, but it takes far more effort and the pass doesn't have the same kind of velocity his passes here had.
