They give them away for free in the prophets masjid so you can ask anybody going umrah to pick up a set. Also some bookstores sell them and there is an app on iOS

Secondly I found a lot of scholars books available for download for free online but the website that posts them didn't get permission from the publishers (in some of the books it mentioned all rights reserved, that kind of thing), is it permissible to download them still since it's islamic knowledge? Or must I search for another permissible source?

@@IThinkMoreThanISpeak sheikh Fawjan and other say that the right of publisher should be respected. Otherwise you will harm yourself more than take advantages. I mean it is like steeling. It is not worth it. Just fear you lord. Hope I helped😀
