Eni Aluko and I have the most heated debate I’ve ever had on this podcast. Accusations of racism from both sides. Eni is a former football / soccer player who recently became the first black woman to own a club. She played for Chelsea and England, and now is one of the main pundits on British TV. #dei #woke #antiwoke

It’s not white privilege, it’s majority privilege. She’s living in a predominantly white country and she’s a minority. If a white man moves to China he’d face “Chinese privilege” because naturally the locals would have more generational wealth, connections, understanding of local culture and traditions. For some reason Europe is expected to be cosmopolitan home to the whole world.

Dear god it doesn’t have any attempt at empirical measurement whatsoever .. it’s just a litany of crass assertions stated as axioms. That’s the measure of Eni too … everything she stated was an axiom … no proof required … the great Thomas Sowells works shred mindless drones like Eni … I highly recommend this greatest living thinker … shames he’s 94 now … I wish he’d lived forever

Exactly, how many times in this interview does she play both sides of the same argument? She only has her own particular experience in football to draw from. But as soon as Andrew starts introducing broader interpretations, different points of view, along with statistics, she can’t really justify her answers because she’s going on a feeling of racism instead of cold hard facts. I love when she described the evidence of racism against her by saying, “ you just know” when someone’s being racist; a feeling she had and yet questions Andrew about whether or not he should be believed about his own experience.

I’m American and I just wanted to say that Basketball didn’t used to be predominantly Black. In fact they said it was “too white”. So Black people were brought in and then White people were largely pushed out. Also look at how Caitlyn Clark (women’s league) is being treated. She’s being discriminated against by Black players jealous of her talent. The same happened with American Football. You’ll be hard pressed to see more than one white player on each team. Whereas Football used to be predominantly White. They’re even saying the same things about Baseball. That it’s “too white”. If a sport is deemed “too white” it’s automatically assumed that people of color are being pushed out and discriminated against. Yet we’re told that it’s wrong to assume racism when a sport is dominated by people of color. How is that not a racist double standard ? People will say “oh but the owners and/or people doing the hiring are White”. As if white people are incapable of self hate. Especially in a cultural climate that is ever increasingly anti White.

To be fair, the London Marathon was won by Ethiopian or Kenyan runners every single year for the last 20 years and it's kinda weird how there are never any elite black swimmers. I also don't think that men outnumber women in elite chess by like a 100:1 ratio for entirely sexist reasons. It's entirely reasonable to say that some races/sexes on average are just better than others at given tasks. Where her argument fell down is that we can see who the best chess players are, who the fastest runners are, who the best tennis player is, there's no subjectivity there, but that's completely different from the process by which people are chosen to read the evening news. We know blacks are superior or whites are superior in certain sports. We definitely don't know what process is being undertaken to choose who presents tv shows and even if we did it would be hard to place exact empirical metrics on them. I can tell you that Bolt ran .11 seconds faster than Gay or Blake. There's no way I can give you any kind of objective metric on how much better Fiona Bruce is than Naga Munchetty. In other words, under-representation in media is suspect in a way that under-representation in sports is not. It's fine to say "X race are better" in sport but dubious in less quantifiable careers like media.

Yeah well ‘X’ is definitely creating harm. It’s the forum that vile, intimidating, abusive TIMs choose to humiliate women. ‘Trans’ identifying males are ruining women’s sports, infiltrating women’s prisons & hospitals, bullying their way into women changing rooms & toilets & NOW they are pushing their fetish into schools in order to indoctrinate & groom children. And the parents seem happy that the state is now sanctioning the sexualisation of their kids. And now this woman appears to believe that these men actually ARE ‘transitioning’ just because they’re taking hormones & have added some tits on! Really??She may have studied law, but she hasn’t the most rudimentary idea about basic human biology ffs. ‘Trans’ identifying men have not ‘been through a lot’ in terms of trauma - they are led by their sexual instincts. Those instincts in every case are fetishist. And the worst of those will use their new-found freedoms to subjugate & humiliate women more & more. Only a man can call himself a ‘trans’ woman. A woman is just a woman. Notice there’s no prefix. Boundaries between the sexes exist for a reason & if the women supporting male intrusions in women’s sex-based rights claim that it comes from a ‘Kind’ place, they might want to take a long hard look at who it is they should ‘Be Kind’ to. Once they see what these men really are they will be ashamed of how they threw us under the bus. Until then, well done ladies - your status as Handmaidens to men is complete.

They really need some DEI in Africa because they are the most conservative, patriarchal and oppressive in the world. Diversity for thee but not for me

I'm not saying she said this or even believes this, but I guess the most logical interpretation taking together everything she said was as follows: a. DEI isn't a prescriptive list of quotas it's just a way to educate people about their prejudices. The evidence for this being that the Equality Act 2010 doesn't say that you need quotas. b. Therefore there is a level playing field giving equality of opportunity not outcome, c. As such to assume (and it has to be an assumption based on the first two points) that she hasn't gotten or where any black person has gotten is by anything other than merit is racist. d. Although she therefore got selected because of her talent, she wouldn't have done had DEI not re-educated the people who were hiring her so they could see past their prejudices and see only her talent.
@adamjackson6887
@adamjackson6887 3 ай бұрын
The problem with this view is however: a. That there is no law stating quotas are required doesn't mean and isn't evidence they aren't being used. Most organisations can and will justify them as being a "proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim". This is the defence in the Equality Act 2010 to any charge of Direct Discrimination (treating soemone less favourably on the basis of a protectsd characteristic) under ss.13 of the Act. b. The philosophical basis for DEI is nonsense. Saying we are ruled by a "white patriarchy" as Peter Boghossian, Helen Pluckrose and James Demore shiwed in cynical theories, is as discriminatory, horrid and innacurare as claiming we are run by a global network of Jews. This is before we even get into the postmodernist underpinnings of it. Moreover, DEI and the Equality Act 2010 (or other comparative legislation from other jurisdictions) are not, apart from in Canada where they are being embedded in law, the same thing. DEI is an industry based on a flawed ideology. The Equality Act 2010 was government legislation brought in to ensure level playing field and good working relations. In my view, it's well balanced and does not say or even imply anything that the DEI industry has layered on top of it in its policies. c. If people have unconscious bias (which she didn't say but she implied and is a central tenet of DEI), then it's not something they can do anything about given its...unconscious. If people hired her, then, assuming they have these prejudices, it was inspite of their prejudices not because they had been reeducated by a DEI officer.

Grouping people together by ethnicity is daft since it makes an assumption that everyone within that group is equally disadvantaged when there are vast variations in income, occupation and connections. It makes more sense to group people according to social class and income as they’ll have similar needs and opportunities. Some sports are very expensive to get into - equestrian and motor racing spring to mind - where social class and income exclude most of the population regardless of your colour.

I can’t quite believe I’ve managed to sit through all that. It was utterly absurd. You’re naive to assume I would’ve got here without DEI - but I want to make it absolutely clear that I got here without DEI. The world is not set up for people like me to succeed - but I have succeeded, which proves that it is indeed set up for people like me to succeed. She explains how people doubted that she had been a victim of racism then, unbelievably, she does exactly the same thing to Andrew suggesting that he had jumped to conclusions, maybe he was imagining it etc She then realises she’s been gaslighting him so she says she doesn’t want to engage in gaslighting and then goes on to engage in some more gaslighting. She then talks about basketball and chess, saying she’s fine with these activities being dominated by particular groups, contradicting everything she’s previously said about how underrepresentation of certain groups is proof of unfairness. She says that any discrimination white men are experiencing today is what black people have experienced in the past as if one injustice cancels out another. We need DEI because of patriarchy, but… when she sees three white men in the studio, she assumes it’s because they’ve got the job on merit i.e. not because of patriarchy. She says there has been an overcorrection, but actually she doesn’t think there’s been an overcorrection. She says what she thinks is expected of her on the trans issue. She is not savvy enough to realise that the tide has now turned on this question! In a few months, she’ll be saying that trans-women shouldn’t be allowed to compete in women’s sports and pretending that she’s always believed that. One obvious question that is never asked in this context is: why do we have women’s sport at all? Why don’t we have unisex sport? I hate the Americanism “people of colour“, but I love the fact that Andrew still uses the distinctively British past tense “earnt“ instead of “earned”. We need to preserve those past tense forms in “t” against the American linguistic invasion.

A friend of mine started sending me stuff about rotherham grooming gangs and ESG a few years ago. As a proper leftie I brushed it off as conspiracy theorist / racist / right-wing nonsense, but he kept sending it and the more I read the more obvious it became that much of it was true. At this point I've even written a novel called Whitey (type Whitey Benjamin Wright on amazon) about DEI, trans, race, ESG, the whole lot. As my friend did to me I've also drip fed some of this stuff to my brother who again held out nobly until recently a young black woman, who he had complained about being pushy but inexperienced, was given a promotion ahead of him in a Canadian company. Now he's realised that the happy clappy progressive society being pushed down our throats is nothing but cultural engineering by a cohort of ideological activists who've managed to wield empathy with a sword.

@formulaic78 I had a similar story. I had tried to get into medical school for a long time. I spent a lot of money and time to try to get in. Eventually I made friends on an acceptance committee and had him review my application. I met all the standards and on paper I thought I looked great. He then said verbatim "those standards aren't for you". Since then I went on several interviews and even MMIs with other students who were woefully under qualified, but because they fit into the minority they got in and I was rejected or wait listed. I really didn't like saying it or even writing it out here, because I know how it sounds, but I've seen how these institutions in America treat people based on race, it's pernicious and evil.

I'm now a proud unaligned, aka a free thinker (a phrase progressives laughingly call a dog whistle!). One of my very socialist friends says none of this wokery has anything to do with leftism because it's not economically based; however, as I see it, most people on the left have bought into this stuff hook, line and sinker because it's based on empathy and they are too dim-witted (or lacking in conscientiousness as Jordan Peterson would say) to see the glaring flaws.

It started off as avoiding legal repercussions for discrimination and now it is necessary for ESG scores that affect stock prices. Nevermind the overwhelming social pressure to avoid any perception whatsoever of racism in order to keep or progress in your job. I am relieved to be 10 years from retirement and working from home because I can't imagine spending my entire working life walking on eggshells and being made to feel like I'm an unwanted invader in my own country. I look around me and see not one white face under the age of 45 and yet am forced to take diversity training like having white employees is a problem that needs to be overcome.
