I've lived in quite a few isolated places, my cottage for 17 years in the middle of nowhere which was amazing. At one point I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper when I was little. I love the isolation of a home because you really get to understand the land and it's critters and you really get to understand yourself. It's much more isolating to live in a populated area but not see the people than to live in an isolated place without people. I loved these places in the video, great idea for a video ❤

That wasn't even the most impressive. There are some houses/cabins on the Canadian side of the "Thousand Islands" region where the structures are significantly larger than the entire island. You basically have a dual-purpose dock/deck wrapped all the way around the house. And they are worth millions and millions of dollars if they ever go on sale. Many of the inhabited islands have been owned by the same families since the 19th century.

@davidarundel618713 күн бұрын
Speed boats in the 1800s , are what many now call putt putt motors , very small , slow , and not always able to handle the currents. . Jet boats , we're invented by a chappie with the surname of Hamilton , from New Zealand , to get up the shallow braided rivers , on the South Islands East Coast . Outboard, have since become a lit more powerful these days - the early ones couldn't tow a skier .

On a remote island a with tiny town of only a few hundred people and our area was completely off limits to everyone for over a full year during Covid. Only ones allowed on or off were residents or essential service deliveries (mail, groceries). No visitors or tourists. I was never happier except for our tiny store really ran out of a lot of basic supplies because of the supplies not being made or shipped. Good thing most of us were already self-sufficient and managed well. It was so peaceful.
