That's a lot more expensive than what I would have guessed, holy. If it were available in Germany I reckon it'd easily cost over 3500€, maybe close to 4000€, because companies like pricing their GPUs so that you end up paying ~20% more for the same GPU in Germany compared to the USA (1€ is still more than $1, about $1.06 right now). That would be at least twice or thrice the money any average person here is going to earn, post-tax.

Gorgeous card. I was considering waiting but glad I eventually ended up with a Gigabyte Waterforce 4090. Replaced the fans with 6x Noctua’s and it runs fine at +200-220 mhz core depending on the workload (boosts to 3050 mhz) ,+2000 mhz on the RAM, and about 57C. 2:08 There is another problem that you didn't mention, Liquid Metal (LM) eats bare copper. In 1-2 years you will see your temps go up and you will have to reapply LM to bring your card back to spec. If you decide to purchase this card I would replace the LM with Thermal Grizzly's KryoSheet on day one and never have to service it again. Bottom line, ASUS should have nickel plated the block.

@@isocle The KryoSheet runs about 2C hotter than liquid metal, beats every paste on the market and PTM 7950. KryoSheet never dries out, so it will last the life of your device just like PTM 7950. PTM 7950 is not sold to the public so you have to go through an entity that will cut it down to size, repackage and sell it to you. This drives up cost and exposes its sales to fraud. modDYI sells authentic PTM 7950 just shy of three times the cost of KryoSheet. PTM 7950 is on par with high performance paste. The downsides of KryoSheet is that it is conductive and if you need to remount your cooler, you will have to buy another one. You should use conformal coating on any SMDs around the chip you are cooling with it.

@@ivyr336 it doesn’t oxidize the liquid metal will combine with copper and form an alloy that will ruin cooling because there’s no real conductor for the heat to get to the block and you’ll have to reapply the LM to the GPU. This is something that asus laptops also deal with often. It’s just chemistry and they don’t care I guess.
@Blu9ty
@Blu9ty 8 ай бұрын
It eventually makes a layer that won’t be an issue after enough time…but you wouldn’t have to deal with this and the repasting if they just plated it with nickel.

Gamers nexus has a video on this. It plates the copper. Doesn't impact performance. What you are describing sounds like LM + an aluminum heatsink.
@Blu9ty
@Blu9ty 8 ай бұрын
@@ivyr336 it doesn’t effect performance because it’s a bad conductor it effects performance because it becomes a solid alloy that you need to add more conductor to until a solid layer is there so it doesn’t have anything to react with and yes bare copper and LM have a reaction with each other as well

The design is great, but one aspect of watercooling is that you can end up with a smaller card suited for sff builds. This is not exactly space saving. And I'd have liked to see a comparison with a properly blocked 4090 using a heatkiller block.

This is a commercial, not a review. He's trying to sell it and highlight it's most positive aspects, not objectively look at it. People seemed to not realize most KZbinrs are advertising, not reviewing.

@@mangaas he is not sponsored, and buys every item he reviews, or makes videos of, himself. This is a review no matter how you look at it - the depth at which he goes into reviewing it is another story. In no way did I feel like he was trying to sell me into this product, he just showcased a new, cool, pretty overkill product.

I would be curious what the numbers would be if these tests were done in a closed case like in the "I fixed pc cooling" video. Because in this test the FE 4090 has almost the same temps as the channeled airflow 4090 in the "I fixed pc cooling" video

When I think "full coverage" I think water channels over the components. Not just a plate of metal that is cooled by a separate part that's cooled by water. Like the difference between a back plate, a backplate with thermal pads, and an active backplate.
