When I was 14 I broke both bones in my right forearm (radius/ulna?) The ER doctors put a cast on me and sent me on home. A few weeks later it still hurt considerably and was swelling. This is where I get the willies..... For some reason the doctor had to reset the bones. They weren't healing right for some reason, so we had to REBREAK the whole thing and reset it. One would think there was copious amounts of medication and scientific people and equipment for such a procedure, but there was not. There was the doctor looking me in the eye and talking when he tricked me and snapped my arm with his bare hands. Yes, snapped my inflamed only 10 day prior broken arm and broke it again while looking me in the face. I'll stop typing now.

Worst pain I've ever experienced was muscle death. My whole left leg had the circulation cut off for 3 hrs. Woke up in the hospital to docs telling me they were going to cut my leg off. I spent the next 30 hrs passing out from the pain constantly. When I had the leg amputated, I was in terrible pain, but not as bad as just feeling the leg dying . Also, phantom pains are terrible. Feels like sudden burning, cutting, stabbing, and there's nothing to grab or rub.

my mother has trigeminal neuralgia, and a particular horrific form where she is in extreme pain all the time. she can't even walk within 15 ft of an open refrigerator door because the cold air hitting her face is unbearable. even just a slight breeze from someone walking by her on the couch, that you or I probably wouldn't even notice, makes her pain level increase dramatically.she had all different kinds of treatments, medications, even brain surgery, and nothing helped. in fact, my father told me later on that when she was part of a study in Pittsburgh in the mid to late 90s, where she had to come off of all her medications, he was afraid to leave her alone in the hotel room because he thought she might try to jump out of the window(and my mother is an extremely positive person, who even when she was in pain you almost wouldn't even consider her depressed(and this was even long before her pain got _really_ bad.)when I was in high school(early 2000s), her pain got extremely bad, and she was on insanely high levels of pain killers, which did essentially nothing to help the pain(though she did also have severe back pain from a childhood tailbone injury, and failed surgery, but it's debatable whether the pain killers even helped that.) she also had terrible migraines at times, and experienced symptoms of burning mouth disease, TMJ, and other things like that. she eventually ended up attempting suicide 3 times, nearly succeeding the last time, but fortunately she was off narcotic pain killers by that time, so she couldn't take any of those in addition to the shit ton of valium, klonopin, and ketamine(and I think a few other things, I'm not sure) that she took. thankfully, while in the psyche ward, one doctor had heard about some people(including some with TN) who had good results from receiving ECT(electroconvulsive therapy.) we tried it, and the effects were _MIRACULOUS._ (and I say that as someone who is an atheist and doesn't believe in miracles.)the difference was just incredibly. she went from being hunched over on the couch in extreme agony 24/7, drugged out on medications, unable to go within 15 ft of an open refrigerator, not being able to eat anything(she had to have a feeding tube installed), to being able to go out and drive to wherever she wanted to go, she started her own business, could go to my brothers hockey games(which were in very cold arenas), etc. and just more or less live a(close to) "normal" life.a few years ago(about ten years after the original treatments) her pain started getting bad again. she was spending a lot of the day crying, couldn't go out, was very worried/distressed, and I suggested her trying the ECT again. one of the strange things about ECT is that it really effects one's short term memory, and interestingly over the years she has maintained that she didn't know if the ECT really helped her or not(despite her friends and family and doctors telling her otherwise. like I said, the difference was _drastic.)_ so she went back, and while the effects took longer to work than we expected, they did (at least as far as i can tell as an outside observor)bring her back to her previous levels of pain(meaning her levels of pain after the first treatments 14 or 15 years ago.)there is no doubt in my mind that she would be dead today if it weren't for the ECT Txs that doctor recommended. like I said, it is about 15 years since that last time she attempted suicide, and she is as happy as ever, and got to see her daughter(my older sister) get married two years ago, and just recently met her first grandchild for the first time last month.if anyone here is suffering from trigeminal neuralgia, or has a friend or family member who is, *_PLEASE_* pressure your doctor to look into this, or try to look into it yourself. I can't even convey how incredible the change was in my mother(granted, she is not, and almost certainly will never be completely fain free, and there were some problems associated with her memory loss, and even a slight personality change that lasted a while after the first treatment, but certainly well worth the trade for such a reduction of pain and the huge increase in quality of life.)I know how hard it is to watch someone you love going through that(I always said it was like having to watch my mother be tortured, and there being nothing I could), and I can't even imagine how HORRIBLE it must be to suffer TN first hand. I truly wish all of you out there the best, and please, like I said, at least look into this and discuss it with your doctor. I understand this is little more than an anecdote/single case study, but like in said there have been others who this has helped(they even did a study about it somewhere in the middle East I think a long while back, but I don't recall the results.)if you need help with this, or have any questions feel free to respond to my questions or DM me.

Seriously though. About 7 years ago my brother went to a sleepover with some of his friends and they had to cancel it and he had to go back home because the kid's dad passed a kidney stone and had to be sent to the hospital. It's a calcium buildup in your kidney, and as pleasant as that shrinking surgery may seem, it's only used in situations where you would die otherwise. Some of the leading causes for these mineral buildups from hell are excessive soda/energy drink consumption, infrequent urinations (i.e. Holding it in), and excessive alcohol intake. I have been worriedly thinking about these for a while, and I feel like the only way to make it less painful would be to do something like sounding (don't look it up, I warned you) to prepare for the mass intensity of anguish that we are all damned to go through at some point in our lives, unless we are extremely health-conscious.

I had a road accident back in 1997, person vs speeding car, left me in a coma for a year and a half and wheelchair bound for life, Dr said it was easier to count the bones that I had NOT broken..."7" including a crushed skull and broken spine, but I can honestly say no pain I've suffered comes close to the subsequent autonomic disrefexia headache I now feel every time my body feels pain below my paralysis level, it could be caused by anything from stubbing my toe to stomach ache, apparently its caused by whenever I feel pain or discomfort below the level I broke my spine the pain message cannot get past the nerve damage inside spine to tell my brain where it is hurting, but my body knows something isn't right so it raises my blood level to dangerous levels pushing my brain against the inside of my skull also pressing on optic nerves on both eyes, it starts of like brain freeze where you've eaten ice cream or something cold to fast but then gets a hundred times more, I wouldn't wish that pain in my worst enemy,

I broke my hip when i was 12, specifically the ball of my femur. The surgeon said i had to have landed just right for it to happen, but she also said i was really lucky as it was a clean break and my young age aided in healing. The fall was not the worst, but rather when the vice principal made me stand up and walk on it.

WHAT I would sue. I broke my hip and it’s been a month and I can’t put weight on it or I’ll break it again. Weight is the only thing that can break it. I am 17

My parents talked to one single lawyer. And that lawyer said because it didn't keep me from making a full recovery and didn't limit my ability to function after we didn't have a case in court. My parents were big dumb on that one, and I wish I could go back into time and make them speak with a different lawyer bc now i have all kinds of health issues that the previous break certainly does not help.
@lara407-2 жыл бұрын
@@iKatieUndead that’s crazy. I went a full 8 weeks with toe touch weight bearing because 2 doctors told me. A different lawyer would have been great for you because I’m sure it could have done something to your healing.

During labor I couldn’t cry all I could do was whimper “help me” at my mother and my nurse. Almost 8 hours with no medication and it feels like death is pulling on your insides and bashing a bat into your hips and spine with every late contraction. This pain was worse then when I cracked my head open as a child. Maybe it’s because your hips have a small piece that breaks during the labor, but the greatest part is after delivery your body is so full of adrenaline that the moment they hand you your child the pain vanishes for a few hours.

Many women who have given birth, will say that kidney stones and more so gall stones are far more painful. When it comes to labour induced labour is more painful than natural timing. Some women make a fuss over labour when it wasn’t that bad. Only when they have complications/induced do they have the right to say it was painful.

While going down the stairs the sole tore off my boots and my foot went sideways, weight baring down onto my ankle and I fell. After a few minutes the pain began to become unbearable and my parents told me to stop complaining. I had it resting and raised up on the backseat and carefully raised my jean pantleg up and it was swollen the size of the grapefruit, like on the side of my ankle... I cautiously said that I thought something was wrong and they freaked out lol. I wound up going to the ER and having to wear a brace and use crutches for a couple months. T_T
@beckyjogilbert57123 жыл бұрын
The worst pain I've ever experienced was a condition known as Rhabdomyolysis. Torn muscle tissue releases a protein into the bloodstream, this clogs the kidneys and can cause renal failure. When my kidneys began to fail every muscle in my body became tight and began to swell all at once, causing more muscle tearing and stretching of skin. Literally being ripped apart from the inside, wouldn't wish this on anyone! Known to effect horses, most commonly developed after being crushed (earthquakes, building collapse, car accident, etc.) extreme drug use, weight lifting, and intense exercise workouts.

I vaguely remembered having a staph infection on my armpit that had to be examined and sliced open with a scalpel. The only problem was they used absolutely no anesthetic and cut it open. When they applied pressure, I had to bite down on my lower lip to stop myself from swearing and cursing like a sailor due to the overwhelming severity of the pain. I remember shedding tears because of the pain, but within moments the pain was gone.
@katedart7073 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, I had a similar kind of infection but inside my mouth and I remember all too well how it felt to have the infection basically scraped and squeezed out. It's excruciating, even though it is short lived. I kept trying to grab the doctor's hand to stop him, and after I got up to leave I immediately passed out. I'm sorry you went through something similar but just had to comment because it made me think back to this!

I had a very similar experience. I had an MRSA infection near my groin area that led to a 2-day hospital stay and round-the-clock antibiotics. All of that was fine pain-wise, but when they lanced the remainder of the infection, not only was a scalpel used, but the lidocaine wasn't given any time to work, so I felt everything. Some other harrowing things I've dealt with are living with Rheumatoid Arthritis for a 20-year-old, partial dislocation of my knee, and a brown recluse bite resulting in a skin infection and tissue death.

As a kid, my doctors didn’t believe my migraines and cluster headaches were serious… I was prescribed aspirin or some baby Advil to treat the pain I was experiencing. Back in the 90’s they were too afraid to give minors anything stronger…. I was screaming, vomiting stomach juice (because there was nothing else left to vomit), crying, ripping my bedsheets to shreds, banging on my head to “stabilize” the pain… The aura or “lightning” in my eye would cover most of my vision, I couldn’t even recognize people’s faces… my legs and fingers would cramp to the point I couldn’t move them and “unfreeze” them… all because my doctors didn’t know a “boy” could have migraines THAT severe because they couldn’t see me having an attack while at the doctor’s office…. It was still widely believed only a “female” could suffer from migraines….

I've had trigeminal neuralgia my whole life. At my worst it'll happen 5-6times a week, at my best maybe once every 3-6months. I've heard there are people that have it flare up dozens of times a day. I already live in fear of my one every few months, and I have constant anxiety about when the next one will be (usually paranoid about it happening while I'm driving) when I'm having a frequent episode week. It's excruciating. It's like someone hammered a framing nail into your temple, then the moment they rip it out seconds later, it goes back to normal like nothing ever happened. The veins on the side of my head where it happened will be bulging, but there's no pain or even a residual lingering ache. If it lasts 2-3seconds I'll usually just put my palm to my temple and close my eyes, waiting for it to pass. Any longer than that and the screaming/begging starts... Over the last 20 years I've heard how little is still known and how there's no treatment or preventative or even an understood reasoning why it happens. If it happened to me dozens of times a day, I would have taken my own life long ago. Trigeminal Neuralgia is pain incarnate, but the only agony it brings is the looming fear of it happening.

I've had kidney stones several times, something about genetic inability to properly dispose of uric acid. So I get them no matter hydrated or in shape. Last time I was at the hospital, getting x-rays to determine how big they were, both the X-ray technician, their assistant, and the nurse in my room (I was peeing blood, they wouldn't let me leave for a while) were women. All three had had kidney stones too. And all three rated them as more painful than childbirth. Considering I couldn't stand upright and was urinating blood, I didn't disagree. The only thing I've experienced that hurt worse what when they had to go in and pull one of the chunklets out because it hooked into the ureter.

Oh buddy. Let me tell you about the time I tried to throw a 100lb woodplank and the rotation of the plank caused its far end to spin back and catch me right in the ankle, knocking my legs out from under me. I'd take 100 razor scooters to the ankle over that happening again.
@mergedzamasu93647 жыл бұрын
The Funtastic Cousins I know what your talking about but scientifically there is no such thing as a "funny bone", it's just a regular part of your body and hurts when you hit it hard, just like your ankle ( but nobody calls your ankle your funny bone). Or the middle part in between your neck and your shoulder (I forgot the name) when you push it down hard.

getting stabbed in the stomach doesn't hurt actually. i've been there. i've also been shot in the stomach and that was even less painful than the stab. because your body goes into shock and you don't feel the pain until later which by that time you're already in hospital on drugs so the pain is numbed
