"Why We Workout" - Intro
We have a problem.....
It is affecting almost every part of our society.....
We have become a sedentary, unhealthy and obese society.
I know that's hard to hear, but we lose 655,000 Americans every year from heart disease - that’s almost person every 45 seconds. Heart disease also accounts form nearly 25% of all deaths. Obesity, an unhealthy diet, the lack of physical activity, and uncontrolled stress and depression are all major contributing factors that are well within our control.
The good news is that there are things you can do to positively impact your health and mitigate your risk factors, and they may seem rather obvious. One of the major culprits is the lack of physical activity
According to the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, only 23% of Americans between the ages of 18 to 64 engage in AT LEAST 150 minutes of moderate physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity........IN THE COURSE OF A WEEK!!!
That’s less than a 20 minute walk around the block every day!!
Of course the excuses as to why people can’t do the bare minimum are used over and over again, but are they really valid?
In reality, almost all of these “obstacles” can be overcome fairly easily. So they really become just........excuses.
But let's not talk about why we don't workout, let's focus instead on WHY we workout
Spoiler alert - not everyone works out for the reasons you may think and there are so many hidden benefits that come with working out.
