Taking down a drone as a federal crime, who took down his drone and will they be doing time for it?

According to the article, "The drone flight prompted law enforcement and bomb technicians to seize the drone mid-air, land it and evaluate its threat to the public." Given the context and history of the Boston Marathon, the local authorities were concerned it might be used to hurt others.
