Votann (IMHO) have two teams because they’re leaning hard into leveraging Kill Team as a pipeline to release 40K minis.

Ya I'm think a huge reason they aren't popular with 40k is how little they have not cause anything about them specifically. It's also probably why so many play space marines and tyranids since Gw pushes them down our throat.

So, the Auspex Tactics data should be viewed through the lens of what’s in the last few launch boxes for 40K - namely Death Guard, Necrons, Tyranids, & Space Marines.

I'm a Drukhari player they are and will be my first love and lead introduction into the Warhammer 40K world back in 6th edition. I think Bot had bought the Second Edition of Space Hulk, and Warhammer 40K Second edition Starter box.

I have went to my local store about once every month and they have all the time the Same three boxes of kasrkin in the back since like jannuary Personally i dont really care about them, they Just feel like vet guard but you remove some of the flavour of guard such as being a faction of many normal soldiers with added artillery support kasrkin Just replace that with elite tokens which Is kinda boring There Is also the added issue that you can make vet guard into whatever regiment you like since their rules are pretty usable for any of them With kasrkin on the other hand you have "for cadia" and other such rules which can Only be used for cadians

It's about the price to get Tyranid and Necron are popular in 40K because they're in the edition launch boxes and are easier/cheaper to get, like Kommandos and Veterans/Death Korps Hierotek Circle and Hive Fleet, on the other hand, are not in launch box, and they both need more than 1 box to build a roster

Is there a way I could get access to the raw numbers for each of the 3 listed Killteam sources (i.e. the numbers that determined the ranking)? I'd love to run a few statistical tests and see if I can create a more accurate ranking.

Risking "that guy" label, but your reasoning isn't exactly on point. People checking up given faction rules aren't necessary people who play given faction. For example, half of those hits can be from people playing AGAINST given faction and checking on spot what that team actually does. Also, as far as CYRAC vids were published on separate dates - so earlier got novelty views bonus when people didn't have access to all rules and were starving. TL/DR: popularity of views isn't a logical conclusion of faction popularity.

I can guess as to why Necrons are so low in Killteam, for the following reasons: (1). The Hierotek Circle team is a collection of singular, odd models. They only 'reliable' way to gather it without dropping hundred(s) of dollars is to buy the Hierotek Circle Killteam box, which is difficult to find at a reasonable price. (2). Partially because of (1), most people who can play/collect Necrons for 40k proper can't actually run Hierotek Circle! (3). Necrons don't have nearly any personality until you reach 40k proper - where the march of nameless machines becomes their identity. In Killteam, you have four nameless Immortals who all look the same with the same gear. It's comparatively dull relative to other factions, imo.

I'd disagree, but then I'd agree we have too many different statlines for killteam minis that don't match the full game.

I am still genuinely surprised we do not have a Death Watch kill team. I mean their groups are literally called kill teams.
