Standard Malaysian language is actually taken from Johor language, widely used in most Federal territories and Selangor state because KL and most important cities are located in Selangor. Each states/kingdoms have own dialect and slang, not just you guys, even I can't understand them. I born and grow up in KL. West Malaysia (Borneo) have their own languages in which isn't Malay language at all but the standard Malay spoken for formal usage only.

Different states in Malaysia have a different accent of the Malay language. So that's why Ivana having a hard time understanding it. The most neutral Malay accent mostly used around Klang Valley (KL, Selangor).

Dont feel bad. Many Malaysians dont understand Terengganu Malay. We have many words you cant find in the dictionary. And the sounds n grunts we make, makes it so much harder. It is almost like a different language. That's what makes us special 😊 That milo concoction looks so good.Have to go to that pasar malam and look for it. No to chicken butts though haha You have to live here a few yrs at least, before you can figure out what the locals are saying.
