I like how 3 rounds from the m320 are blowing up MBTs and they fly way up in the air. And they don't shoot back at all as you fly right over top of them for some reason. Totally realistic. And that formation as you fly ridiculously close to your #1 for no reason at all. Doing crazy maneuvers over mountains without knowing or checking what's behind the next ridge. Also unable to fire until the game allows it. Completely realistic simulation there. That HMD is nothing like the real thing. The M320 can kill a tank in 2 shots, but you need hellfires to kill a mortar. I think the game got it backwards. RPG hit is instant return to base. You wouldn't continue, nor would you fly within RPG range to begin with. You have standoff capabilities, why not use it.Flying crazy circles over the village makes no sense. You get to carry 8 hellfires and 34 rockets, or 16 hellfires, or 68 rockets with symetrical loadouts. not 300 rockets. Apache can't fly single engine with full loadout and full fuel. Especially not that high up in the mountains and especially not doing crazy maneuvers like that. Can't even do those crazy maneuvers with both engines. The gun turret can only turn about 90° to either side, not look behind. Hellfires can't do a loop and come back around. Their field of vision is rather narrow. You can't aim rockets. The helicopter has to be aligned and the pilot fires them. The gunner is only responsible for the gun and target acquisition with the targeting system. Nothing here is a simulation or realistic. It's an arcade game.

I was a member of 1-1 Aviation. Gunfighter 6 was removed from his command and forced out of the Army after a "friendly fire" incident in Iraq. Launched a hellfire into a US APC.

If the DCS World would get the procedural terrain generation like that game has, it would become the most interesting helicopter simulator to fly. It only would need that map designers would hit "generate ground objects" and SDK would fill the ground for ID data for such objects and mapping to be used. So what if it would grow the storage space by 10 GB or so to save the numeric space values where is what.

@@potatopilot16 I mean that the DCS would include such SDK that would allow them to populate their maps with that amount of small objects and details randomly, save that data so it is synced between clients on multiplayer and replays. No more flat terrain or smooth mountains etc. Maps would stay same (Caucasus, Nevada etc) but just far more detailed.

It has A LOT horrible terrain engine limits, like 90° upwards turning roads, or buildings and objects floating in air or empty lots without buildings but all other objects like trash and or few plant buckets.

TADS system...slightly inaccurate. AH-64 cockpit...innaccurate. 30mm fire...innacurate. Radio protocol...innaccurate. Warning systems...inaccurate. Hellfire missiles...pretty close. All in all, I'd give this a 3/10 as far as Apache simulation goes. Maybe next time don't rip off a mission from MoH and try to call it a sim.

This is far from a most realistic heli simulator. Most realistic helicopter simulator is Dodosim add-on for FSX simulator. It mimics all dynamics, all engine state modes, maneuvers, engine wear and failures, natural forces like vortex ring state etc. It is possible to get up in the air but it is quite difficult to land for non experienced pilot. Only for a real heli enthusiasts

I have a "Master Caution, No Gun & noticeable shakes in the controls" with smoking aircraft. "Let's go play hunter killer", Said no pilot ever. LMAO. Let's fly next to each other and the lead aircraft stays in your line of fire the whole time. Great graphics but the rest needs work.

He's long since retired, used to be a pilot instructor actually, so no doubt they know each other if the timelines meet.
