We actually know what it is that Richie "messed up"- it was the argument he and Jimmy had in season one at the kids birthday party, where Jimmy had put Richie in charge of somebody's apartment or house, and she had tried calling repeatedly about a plumbing issue before apparently falling down the stairs. It had turned out that she was calling Mikey when she thought she was calling Richie, which got Richie fired and screwed up his relationship with Jimmy until the misunderstanding was cleared up.

And we can also assume it’s what ruined Richie’s marriage. Ugh breaks my heart for him. But y’know my heart breaks for all of them lol.
@rishabhpb2 ай бұрын
This is true, but it also may not have been the only incident that led to Richie's relationships breaking down. We've seen time and again that Jimmy gives his "nephews" a lot of leeway. Richie also lied to his wife about something he didn't have in the bag yet, it can't have been the only time.

Don’t forget, Sugar isn’t a nice nickname either. It’s hinted bc she screwed up a recipe using sugar instead of salt or vice versa, so it’s kind of an insult
@QuzgaАй бұрын
@@AL-fl4jk Yup, I actually had the same thing. I ruined a tape once when I was like 6 and my family called me tape for years. They thought it was funny but I just felt ridiculed tbh. Sometimes adults don't realize how it makes their children feel, a nickname should be based in something positive, not negative.

And some people still think Carmy is simply 'just an asshole' with the way he handles stress and chaos but in truth he's a very anxious and deeply traumatized young man who needs professional help to respond to stress in a healthier and non-asshole kinda way, for his own and other people's sake. Everyone in this family needs help and healthier coping mechanisms.

This episode was the definition of stress, anxiety, choas, and family dysfunction. It was too real and somewhat relatable for comfort. Each actor and actress brought their A game, especially Jamie Lee Curtis, she is just guest star, but she was acting like she led. Ritchie's Ex; Tiffany, is played by the delightful actress Gillian Jacobs she was on Community and she Is the VA of certain redhead superheroine on Invincible. This backstory for the Berzatto clan explains a lot.

Gosh, even watching a reaction to this episode makes me cry and feel breathless. It's so realistic, and it brings back so many memories of family gathers that ended in fights and whirlwinds like this. From having a mom that's completely unreasonable and angry all the time to siblings and cousins and everyone that just yells and shouts. It's definitely PTSD inducing, but it is such a good episode, and it really showcases how the main cast of characters ended up the way they did because of the trauma they had to deal with. Favorite episode, though not one I will watch over and over again. No thank you, lol.

Not sure if anyone brought this up but in the first season (Maybe episode 1?) Sugar asks Carmy if he has called Mom yet. So she is still around. In fact when Jamie Lee Curtis saw that episode she said to herself that she was going to play the Mom.
