I really appreciate you adding Repo Man. It's definitely a cult classic, and besides Emilio there's a really good turn by Harry Dean Stanton, Jimmy Buffett a small part, Michael Nesmith (yes, the Monkees guitarist and only real musician of the group), Miguel Sandoval fairly recognizable from a ton of movies including Clear and Present Danger, Tracey Walter (my other brother Darryl, for fans of Newhart). So yeah it deserves a look. BTW Asa Butterfield of Ender's Game is the main character in Sex Education, a better-than-it-sounds series on Netflix.

First Matrix movie will always be an amazing in theater experience for me. Back in 1999, the marketing for the movie leading up to the release was just “What is the Matrix?”. No teases about the plot, the action, etc. The Matrix reveal while sitting in theater was mind blowing, not to mention the action. I was already an HK movie fan at the point, but seeing the martial arts and gunfighting brought into a stylized, big budget way was breathtaking. Kinda tough nowadays to go into a movie completely not knowing what to expect at all, and the first Matrix movie experience will always be something I cherish.

For those who read, the Orson Scott Card Ender series has some 12 books in it. You will find considerably more depth in the written Ender than in the movie. Like many devoted readers of specific authors, I almost universally am disappointed in screen renditions of their novels, probably because they do not compare to the "movie" that runs in my mind as I read.

18:38 As one who's read the Ender's Game series, I was VERY excited when the movie came out. Overall, I enjoy it, but it certainly leaves out very significant internal dialogues, leadership ideology, military strategy, etc. that truly make the books very intricate and special. There were just several things that I wished the film explored more deeply. But, I will say that the ultimate message did eventually shine through. "HOW we win matters." is a very strong statement that is far more impactful if you've read at least Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.

I agree with Looper as the #1. It is one of the best time travel movies I have seen in recent years. Ender's Game is terrific too. I absolutely love the Enderverse books. Some of them explore what happened on earth with Ender's siblings and there is one (Ender's Shadow) which portrays the same events as Ender's Game but from the perspective of Bean! (who turns out to be an extraordinary character in his own right). A very clever and awesome story--it turns out there was actually a lot going on than the original story portrayed. However, I realized after rewatching the film on Netflix that I think I understand why the movie is only rated 6.6 on IMDB (much too low in my opinion). The reason is that, although Orson Scott Card had direct input into the movie and made sure it hit the high points, the book is so rich that it is hard to fit all the key elements and explanations into the movie. Such as: why are these young kids military geniuses? The book motivates this pretty well but the movie doesn't do as well.

Repo Man is filled with sight gags, and word play throughout. Also, one of my favorite movies with Tracy Walter in it; better know as Nicholson’s Joker’s right hand man. Also, some very generational things like Generic Food those plain cans that said beer, dog food that was a real thing to help save you money. They also make fun of Scientology, with the book Diuretics for L. Ron Hubbard’s book, “Dyanetics” Plus, Michael Nesmith produced it. Saw Split for the first time, mainly because of Anya (as in-her own words-aneurysm) Taylor-Joy. McAvoy was astonishing. Agree with you on The Matrix Trilogy, the first is the best. I feel the same way about the John Wick series. They’re all “good” but to me, the first is the best, and could (should?) have ended there.

They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate of shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in looking for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.
