Every dish simply had fish eggs, seafood, and truffles tossed on it with gold layered on top to bump its price. These dishes were more about the highest profit than the best taste. expensive food definitely does not equal good food. Like why? I guess just adding gold to your food makes it stupidly expensive, like the world's mostly costly chocolate sprinkles or something. It used to be that dishes served "en flambe" or ON FIRE were some of the most expensive. When I was a wee lassie, Baked Alaska was an insanely expensive ice cream dessert, which wasn't set alight, but it was ice cream that was cooked, you might say, as well as crepes suzette, which was set on fire....and then Caesar salad was also expensive, ounce for ounce, if done by the book. I had a fabulous and highly labor intensive Caesar in Puerto Vallarta when I was with my ex. It was pretty awesome. A restaurant called Bogart's, which is probably long gone by now. I think in American dollars, the salad was $40. It was fabulous. I think I got a foot bath while they were preparing it tableside. (not by the chef, of course)
