I don't understand with the officers at 8:50 were doing. There were apparently several cop cars already involved in trying to get him to pull over, with one of the cops pulled up beside the perp. They expected the guy to attempt to drive away, which they could've prevented, if the officer parked to the left of the perp had simply pulled in front of him and cut him off, and the officer behind him could've pulled up against his rear bumper to block him in. But instead, the primary officer just sat there for nearly a full minute, occasionally telling the perp to turn the car off. Normally when you pull someone over, you eventually get out of your police car and approach the perp's car, possibly with guns drawn. Instead, he sat in his cruiser for a minute after the stop, which provided the perp plenty of time and space to bolt!

@@Buck1954 interesting. So you should endanger yourself as a passenger so that police don't put you in danger? Last time I saw a record of a vehicle pitted where the passengers were kids. The driver, as it turned out, was indeed a semi-intended kidnapper (he stole a parked, running car to run from the police, didn't realize there were kids inside). Guilty as charged, not only for the kidnapping, very bad guy, but the pit manoeuvre definitely risked lives of the kids and not only that of the felon at the wheel. Police didn't even realise there were kids in the chased car nor did they make sure about who's in the car before the pit. If only law enforcement had technology to stop such a vehicle without introducing an accident... Like grapplers or nets or spike stripes or... I mean, things like what police force in other countries have...

It wasn’t just the driving skills. The Hyundai is front wheel drive, which means that if you try to pit it, the driver can power out by using understeer and corrective steering. Those tight turns were likely due to a technique known as left foot braking, where you brake with your left foot while accelerating with your right foot to manage the understeer. The only reason they hit the tree was because they didn’t manage the understeer enough.

It seems like they knew who he was and could have picked him up at his house later. The fact is, and even a lot of cops will tell you this, they all really want to do a PIT at some point in their career. Pitting someone at that speed is incredibly dangerous because there is no way to predict where the car will go. That pit could have just as easily failed and sent the truck fish tailing into oncoming traffic... Try explaining to your sergeant that a family of 4 is in a couple dozen pieces because you are an adrenaline junkie.

As soon as the action starts you run the plates, you call the owner, you ask if the truck got stolen. If not then the owner is responsible for identifying the driver. The ticket comes at the driver's door. At least this is how it works in civilised countries. If you can't get the owner right away you throw a catch net, deploy spikes, or whatever your police got equipped with that can stop a car with a reasonable safety. You cannot put more on the line than the offense pursued brings as penalty. Speeding will cost you a fine, gross speeding will cost you your license, no amount of speeding is punished by law with death, so you rightfully cannot shoot a driver just for speeding, can you?

@@MarekLewandowski_EE Ask yourself, why is speeding and running red lights and stop signs illegal? Is it just for a revenue stream for the police dept? Is it the govt just putting arbitrary limits on our fun? Or, maybe, are these things illegal because they put other driver's on the road at risk of injury or death? Oh, I just realized you are the same guy spouting the same nonsense I laughed at in another thread. Not much of a thinker, are you.

@@MarekLewandowski_EE and in other "civilized countries" they end the pursuit with machine gun fire from a helicopter... Every country has their own version of being civilized.

@MarekLewandowski_EE that last question, you can not shoot a driver for just speeding can you? No. But. If say a police car pulls up beside the fleeing vehicle and contact is made, then it is attempted vehicular manslaughter and then you can shoot them. 🔫 Regulations vary by state and district.

@MarekLewandowski_EE Yeah because pursuing someone at 60+ mph isn't dangerous enough, let's run the plates, Google the owner, call them up and ask "DO you know where your vehicle is and who has it"? If it's STOLEN, of course those answers will be "No". 🤦🏻‍♂️

Justin should have never been behind the wheel of such an expensive truck. He was too immature to handle the responsibility.

they said "why didn't they called the pursuit off?" but if he had killed someone by running himover, they would have said "why didn't they pit him?"

We don't love all US law enforcement. Heck, right here in this compilation there's an officer getting away with reckless driving and endangerment, simply because he said he was going to work. Going 80 in a 45 zone, refusing to show ID, refusing to pull over, pretending he's on a call. We don't love that.
