I bought the gold one about a week ago. Had to do a fret level to get the action down..but now is perfect. And the guitar is simply gorgeous! I love everything about it! The reality is that I couldn't returned it due to some of the frets being ground way down...about f5 through f9 on the high e side. Someone at the factory just went nuts on that side in the middle of the neck and forgot about the low e side. So I did a grind/finish job on a brand new guitar..that's how much I like this guitar! It's so beautiful, I love the shape. And the finish...it's like a mirror on the back! How are your frets...high e side, middle of the neck. Are they ground down and look wider than the rest?

I've always had an obsession with Gretsch Guitars ever since I started playing. Two of my favorite guitarists play Gretsch Guitars, Chris Cheney from "The Living End" and Jim Heath from "Reverend Horton Heat" I got the Center Block 3 Pickup Streamliner with the cats eye pick guard for $599 and I'm in love. These guitars are aesthetically beautiful, but audibly beautiful as well. Highly recommend owning one if you can.

Great job guys! I just ordered my Jet! A blue 5230T, comes on 5th January’ can’t wait!! I play in a function band, using my Strats, Tellies and Les Paul’s, occasionally my PRS Custom peizo’ as well, but never thought about the versatility that a fab Gretsch’ will give to the band, ( I’m thinking that’s what The Beatles did with Harrison’s Country Gent’ it literally cut through’ in all their early hit’s!!) So, just great for cutting through the mix with rhythm and lead tones! 👍🤙🎸

Yes I've got the single cutaway with Bigsby. It's a brilliant guitar. It plays fantastic and the pickups are amazing. The Bigsby is not great tbh. I have solved a major problem with it which is the tuning stability. Put the strings over the bar instead of under. This changes the angle of the strings and leads to less friction. It worked for me. It's a steal of an instrument. Go get one!

@@matthorne9593 yes. It's worked fine for me. It's a bad design fault. In fact if you look at brian Mays guitar and how he built it he spotted most of the major flaws in modern guitar design. As a les paul player who also has the hard tailed jet - the broadtrons are a lot closer to a slightly beefier filtertron than a les paul. Still much lower output and twangier than PAFs, and they still sound like gretsch guitars, just a little thicker.

Great intro to this line, thanks! I (finally) went in to take a look at Gretsch Solid Bodies recently after hearing about these but before trying any I was sort of ambushed by an immaculate Cherry Red Japanese made one (identical look to the Bigsby one in the vid) reduced from USD 2,500 to USD 1,250, presumably because it had been sitting in the dealers for 4 years . . . that stopped me in my tracks - it is now at my home, beautiful, unique sound, esp for someone who grew up with the Beatles! Gretsch are doing good things for entry level players these days, for sure!

yeah nice to see this video thanks for the upload I bought a 2020 electromatic hollow body double cut in November right literally right like the day before they started closing down everything when I could tell arrives I was head over heels. I didn't expect it to be as beautiful and as it looks and then playing and then sound. I happen to be blind so I had a couple of friends go over the guitar for the fit and finish they found absolutely no problems on it I got it in Orange stain I do have some some sight on the really bright light I can make out some you know details but nothing but not a small details anyway I love that guitar so much it was made so well and it's so beautiful that I decided to buy a used jet actually I was looking for a new one too but I thought I'd look at the used ones I found one at a price that I liked from my Guitar Center and it was in a limited edition color it's blue onyx every time that guitar comes out of its case and somebody's there they comment on the color so it must be really nice anyway I was expecting a newer one but the metal knobs and the and like you said the electromatics logo on its pick on but like I said I'm blind and I couldn't see the pictures so when I got the guitar it was a much older one with the electromatic on the headstock and the no metal knobs I was just on that like an idiot I was going to send it back because it wasn't new enough it didn't have the newer things and it had a big electromatic sign on on the headstock or logo but after playing that guitar there was no way I could send it back just the way they sent me although it needs pickup adjustments or some trying to do myself it played as well if not better than my Gibson five my Gibson five what am I saying my firebird drive which has the most amazing specs from Gibson that you could think of really great guitar my favorite but this guitar plays just as well if not better and it hasn't even had a setup yet haven't even changed the strings I've come to rationalize in my mind that you know doesn't matter what the logo is it's how you play at Howard plays and how it signs how it sounds and it sounds great I'm still going to buy I think on eBay they always have them the metal knobs with the g in them because that's just how I am that's how I roll LOL and there was no pick guard on the guitar so I'm going to buy one also for eBay I could probably get all of the the set above items for around the 25 bucks and whether I put the pick guard on or not I don't know and I like it the way it is but for 25 bucks actually between 20 and 25 bucks I'm going to buy those things anyway because I'm a guitar snob LOL but yeah I recommend the gifts the gretsch I recommend the gretsch electromatic jet project they call it highly the guitars that come out of their factories are just amazing for the price I got a real good deal on the double cut hollow body the 125 bucks off its price and you know for what I paid for the electromatic which was $350 you can't go wrong and the new ones are 600 bucks I think the older ones might have been made in Korea I'm not sure I know my hollow body was not made in China it was made in Korea but wherever these guitars are made they are really great guitars I have Gibson's I haveI own Gibson's I own Ibanez prestigious I also own a Chinese basically no name a Stratocaster which is pretty cool considering it was 40 bucks sounds all right don't haven't changed anything on it but I am more a step neck kind of guy well excuse me for rambling which is what I'm doing in the end again go get an electromagnetic wretch The hollow Bodies and send me hollow Bodies are all made in Korea if that makes a difference to you some of the solid bodies might be made in Korea but I think most of them are coming out of China and if that makes a difference to you don't buy them but if you want a great guitar for little money that you can play out at gigs or just at home these guitars are the best love them probably going to buy another one think I'm going for a solid body then I'll have the hollow body the I'm sorry not a solid body send me hollow so then I'd have the body send me hollow and solid and I'll be all set with my gratches for a while anyway excuse one long sentence lack of punctuation grammatical areas I'm sure there's a bunch in them sometimes these comments don't even come out as being understandable I guess from what I said I'm blind I use speech to text which has its own very unique tank on the English language sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist

It’s incredibly unfortunate that gretsches get shoved into the chickn pickn category. They can do pretty much anything well, and for some reason people just focus on clean tones, bridge pickup, fast finger picking. They’re super versatile. I’d argue more than almost any other guitars. They can do so much more than “twang.”

I ordered a G5220 Electromatic Jet BT. (Had to special-order it because apparently no one keeps the left-handed version in stock?) It'll be my first electric guitar. I was looking at stuff in the $500 range -- and this is $600 now, but that's close enough. The point is that it's not $1800 to $2000. I'm not spending that much on my first electric guitar. It's the only guitar in my price range that I've *never* heard a bad review of. Not one single QA issue. The Squier Telecaster is cheaper (about $429 right now) but literally *every* review I watched spoke of various QA issues. Some were *really* bad -- like frets actually pulling out of the fretboard at the edges! So the Squier was definitely a no go. I also looked at an Epiphone Les Paul Special with P90s, and *almost* pulled the trigger on that one... So very close. But this... When I saw (and heard!) the G5220, I knew that this was going to be my first electric guitar. Can't wait for it to get here! 🙂

I know that many people have not properly appreciated the Duo-Jet, but I have always loved it. I had a '57 DJ and played it a lot for a few years. I sold it in a fit of insanity, but I recently got a new Harrison Tribute DJ and it's just as good as the '57, if I remember rightly. For me, those Dynasonics are as good as or better than P-90s, and that's going pretty far. I hear a bunch of hollowbody tone from the chambered DJ, but without the feedback at high volumes. Modern DJs have a curved maple top that is finished in the traditional way. The old ones had a piece of drum material glued to the top. While that meant that they could do a very cool Silver Jet, Champagne Jet, White Penguin, or whatever, that piece of plastic muffled and dampened the top from fully resonating. Cheap, innovative and colourful, but not a very good idea, IMO. Also, I love the Bigsby B-3 on my DJ, you know, the one without that extra roller bar. I have found that the less contact and interference with the strings, the better the tuning stability will be. The B-3 plays more fluidly and goes right back into tune as it was designed to do. Overall, the DJ is a great fiddle, one of my favourites. Thanks for this vid, guys. Cheers.

I have a G5220 and I can't get it set up properly. There's a ton of fret buzz to the point where it's unplayable, and I don't even want to take it out of the case. I have the ft with the Bigsby but prefer a fatter les paul guns and roses type sound. Could I switch out the bridge pick up? What you recommend?

From Leo: Adding a full size Humbucker is possible but it will be tight. The Mounting rings for the Gretsch Filtertrons will not hold a Humbucker, and humbucker rings will need new holes drilled. If you find a Jet "Club" model, regular humbuckers will fit with less work. PS, Gretsch makes some pickups called Broadtron that are supposed to be more like a humbucker sound. They will drop in.

Nah. It's pretty cool. Nice to have, and if you don't need it, it swings out of the way. I hear some guitars with bigsbys have tuning problems. Never encountered it myself.

I have (among others) a 5230T in airline silver and I can only say GO GRETSCH! But the master volume doesn’t work. You can only have all pots on full, otherwise it’s all mud.
@gregmaher827
@gregmaher827 3 жыл бұрын
The pots that are in it are cheap. Just need audio taper pots. They are 500k pots. This will allow you to actually roll down the volume and no mud.

Could be designed way better. Try doing a volume swell while picking and it fails. I love the guitar, hate the knob configuration, and I don't like the mud switch some of their guitars have. Need a basic volume knob and tone knob in reach. And I don't understand how that is so hard for them to get. Other than that I love their guitars..
