PLEASE NOTE some Things I forgot to mention bc keep in mind this video was essentially just unscripted rambling: -sorry my mic quality is bad bc I DONT HAVE ONE (😭😭😭) -please be patient w me also in the visual department bc this was 1.) filmed with my shitty phone camera (I don't. Have a "real" camera) and 2.) literally a week before I finally got a haircut 😭 so...long hair jumpscare 🪦 -THE FACT THAT GINRAI BEING A GODMASTER IS IN AND OF ITSELF A DIFFERNETIATING FACTOR (bc G1 Optimus is simply. Not); Ginrai has the ten-chi-jin chokon energy powers as a result (aka why he can lift rocks and shoot rainbow beams lol), which again, Optimus does not have. -The matrix of leadership!! Optimus bears it and Ginrai would and did not -The semi-canon presented theory that the visual similarity can be chalked up to Ginrai's Cybertronian transtector originally being built as a second body for Optimus after his death but after multiple failures to bring it to life the project was abandoned and the tech was lost, ending up on earth.....semi-canon as it shows up in a bonus release after Masterforce finished airing, but the author of the manga/a writer for the series (Masumi Kaneda) has refuted thw validity of this theory on Twitter....so....... -How narratively, Ginrai could also serve as the "Orion Pax who became Optimus" kind of story in the sense that it would be like if Orion Pax simply never matured at all when he became leader, and learned to do so on the way. Ginrai "growing into" his role is an important part of his character arc from start to finish....not necessarily a concrete kinda reason or anything but still something I wanted to point out.....and it still differentiates him from G1 Optimus bc G1 OP *did* mature. So. Yea. -Colors and shape differences is a highly satirical bit and meant to be taken with a grain of salt, as I'm aware of the fact that everything from video quality, to the paints used in production for the masterforce/G1 cels would affect that...and shapes change too with animation inconsistencies and stuff episode to episode. OVERALL though, it is meant to say, for people adamant that there are NO visual differences between the two....that that couldnt be more wrong because use your eyes for a sec, the fundamental basis for the designs ARE in fact, different! -Edit 1: Since I am inevitably going to get unsolicited feedback about what I should have talked about--whatever I haven't specifically mentioned in one way or another simply wasn't relevant in my mind to the point of the video. So I didn't talk about it. For example, I have my reasons for not mentioning the whole powermaster prime thing as imo, that is an entirely different conversation. We are not having a discussion about toys, comics, or any other universes or characters. YES they are irrefutably related but they are just not specifically what I'm talking about rn. Like I said in the description, I am not! looking for pointers and extra info! 😅 I suppose thank you for considering this enough to want to give that kind of feedback, however this video is also...not really intended to be one of the many interesting, researched, informative videos out there 😳 if it was I wouldve titled it "why ginrai is not the same as Optimus", and been less informal with it all....but I did not....therefore think of it as an extended shitpost of sorts.......Thanks! 👍 (/nm) And....if there's anything else I forgot, I'll mention it in an edit. although it's notable that Ginrai very much was built off of an Optimus toy and in universe his transtector was maaaaybe meant as a resurrection plan for Prime and or based on him, kind of like how the Beast Era bots would inherit Optimus traits.

Oh cool!!!!! I hope you enjoy it (even with its flaws and shortcomings 😭) if you do watch it....it's probably one of the strangest series out there in terms of a *transformers* property, and likely why most fans I've encountered either don't know about it or arent much interested (my first exposure to it was someone dunking on it and Headmasters for fun (😔), which actually did the opposite of deter me and piqued my interest...I consider it my mission to do the opposite for people somehow, especially with Masterforce lol) but....imo i think that makes it one of the most interesting and fitting to the whole idea of everything transformers CAN be conceptually, narratively, etc~ 😌✨🌟💫 (I personally love the JG1 branch for how creative and fun it is in general 🙏💕) ALSO AYYY FELLOW OPTIMUS STAN WOOO 🔥❤️🌟✨✨ And it's actually Ginrai/Jinrai (which the character's creator has said numerous times on Twitter doesn't exactly matter which you use so....either goes 🫡💕✨) but! Ginryie is actually a really cool spelling too ngl...😭🙏💫 But anyways yea! Hope you enjoy your continued journey into Transformers :D ✨

Loved the video, I totally also go on similar rants myself about these things. Just a couple notes: I think its really funny when people go super into it as it doesn't really matter anyway considering Ginrai just becomes a flying yellow lion robot later. Plus once he gets the godbomber upgrade he pretty much just stays like that too, which is pretty visually distinct (and exclusive as godbomber was for supergodmasterforce and not released in the US). You make a point in the comments about Ginrai not having the matrix of leadership, but the point is, none of the Autobot supreme commanders had the matrix after rodimus/ prime as its basically the only thing keeping him as rodimus prime. Its also like never even mentioned after the first episode of headmasters. You could totally make a point though that his name is Ginrai, and not something with "convoy" in the name, which pretty much solidifies he has nothing to do with the primes. (even though his pre-production name was Neo-convoy, but even then that makes a distinction between him and original Optimus as "New Prime"). There are plenty of Optimus Prime's who go through that journey of growth, just specifically not G1 cartoon continuity Optimus (and even still you could sort of make the case with orion -> optimus). Animated for example did that really well, so did some of the comics. I do think its important that you pointed out that distinction as it shows their characters have distinct purposes. Optimus was designed as a pretty static character, a saturday morning role model action hero, so his character originally had no intention or reason to really grow. People make the point of how Ginrai is just powermaster Optimus Prime, however the fact that there were slight changes between the two which does kinda say they wanted to make it, its own character (even if the animation model is based off the internal robot which is pretty identical between the two releases, which does mean the robot is just an updated look of Optimus), HOWEVER, powermaster Optimus never happened in the cartoon universe of the American (excluding the weird live action season 5) or Japanese continuities (only the marvel comics, where the inner robot is identical to Ginrai), so the visual distinction between the two is STILL VALID.

Yeah the new body was made for Optimus prime to bring him back to life. But the new body got stolen by the bad guys. But the human Ginrai found the new body in truck mode and became Ginrai/god Ginrai

the problem with tone indicators is that if i don't know what they are, they can't affect me. that aside, they're name is "jinrai" but it's spelled with a G in the romanization. i hate it... it makes it confusing to read... but that's what they decided to do. also, it doesn't really help that america got powermaster prime, an optimus prime toy which is just imported super ginrai.

So. Respectfully: Google exists? And so you could totally look them up real quick 🙂 (But if you won't, they mean light-hearted and half-joking respectively) Also I'm well aware of that! However (as written in one of the captions in the video) either pronunciation/spelling apparently goes according to the character's creator (Masumi Kaneda) in a tweet (in which he also explained the multiple meanings behind his name and why it is what it is + WHY either spelling goes) which I couldn't find on command but I know it's there, and I know what I read. And I have also just gotten used to referring to him with the hard g sound if I refer to him while speaking English versus Japanese (in which case I would use the "j" sound) so...🤷 And yes, I know all about the whole powermaster prime thing. However. The point and focus of this video was talking only and specifically about the G1 cartoon Optimus and the Super God Masterforce anime Ginrai as characters, and that they are not the same character. Nothing else. But thanks for your input 👍
