In 2014 Bpost (Belgium) issued a stamp sheet for "earth hour". Part of the image was only visible under uv light, so you received a little light with the sheet when you bought it. Thank you for the video!

That was a great one!!! I need to get some record stamps, and total eclipse of the sun stamps! My daughter and I drove to Wyoming to see it in totality. It was the most incredible experience! It was a super hot day, but when the sun was totally covered, we got so cold, just that fast! When the sun came back out, I started sweating again. It was mind blowing ♥

Along with the 1973 record stamps shown in this video, Bhutan issued a large number of 3 dimensional stamps in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. These used plastic to create the effect. Italy issued 2 stamps in 1956 that appear 3 dimensional with special glasses.

I have a small collection of novelty stamps including chocolate smelling from Switzerland, from Austria a glass stamp and one embedded with Swarovski crystals also from Austria an inset of leather to celebrate football (soccer), a pure silver stamp from France, silk from Thailand also a granite dust speckled stamp, many rose-scented issues and gold issues showing the king in ceremonial robes, Hungary has issued a minisheet displaying the royal crown in gold and pieces of coloured glass to represent jewels and a few from the UK's Royal Mail. My favourite unusual stamps are those using lenticular images making the illusion of movement on the stamp.
@ExploringStamps5 жыл бұрын
I think novelty stamps are just wonderful. Your collection sounds pretty interesting. I have the chocolate smelling ones, but I'd really like to see the Swarovski ones at some point. Thank you for sharing John :)

It's all very interesting. I have many kinds of unusual stamps from Bhutan. I have some of the steel foil stamps, the embossed plastic stamps, the 3D stamps, the circular foil stamps, and the scented rose stamps, though the scent is long gone from them. I also have some of the die-cut self-adhesives from Tonga. Most of these I've had since the 80s, I'd guess, a long time anyway.

How are you meant to soak stamps? Have you done a Long video of that? How did they used to take stamps off paper in the old days? Do different countries use aggressive glue? France? Africa? Does removing hinges hurt stamps? I find it difficult to soak stamps. Very difficult.
