I roll seach half dollars weekly as I am able to order from my bank. Last week I noticed a larger coin within the bank wrapping. Thinking it would be some kind of token perhaps. I was stunned when I opened the roll and it was an 1830 capped bust ! And in XF condition! Took it to my local coin dealer who offered $300 for it. I didn't sell. You never know what you might find when roll searching!

Holy crap! I think I have a 1971 Denver mint!!! Dot at the bottom of the neck is quite obvious. Even the texture in the hair is still pronounced. Certainly circulated, and it sat at the bottom of my Dad's penny jar for a LONG time now. But when you look at the edge....it seems more silver than copper. A very slight copper layer.....

I have a 71 and 72 Kennedy's that weigh 10.3 on my scale. These should weigh approximately 11.3. When I turn them on their sides they appear to be all silver and look silver on front and back.

No. These are extremely rare and likely visible on the rim where you can see the silver coin difference.

we need people like you telling common folks and congress that we need to switch to dollar coins ($1&$2 dollar coins) and replace the old paper note. We need to save money(over 5.4 billion dollars) and the environment. Dollar coins can last 20+ years and can be melted down and recycled.

Hi Folks: I have a 1979 no mint Half dollar coin, it weighs, 11.54 gm as opposed to 11.12 for a 1980 half dollar, it does show copper on the edge, could I possibly have a 40% silver coin? I also have a 1966 half that weighs in at 11.10 gm and shows no copper, since it weighs similarly the same as a 0% silver coin, could it possibly be aluminum? @@lynnlauner46 To find out what is worth will cost you more money because you got to pay for grading. It costs $45 to $50 just to grade one coin. It is very risky due to the fact that your coin has been circulated. The chance of it getting a required or standardized grade is very slim. In order for your coin to sell, it must have a good grade. If you believe that your coin is in great shape regardless of being circulated, you can take your chance.

All should be "upside down" in the way that you describe it. This is intended to be able to flip the coin and display the top to bottom correctly during rotation. If it is not upside down, it is likely a trick coin sold in magic stores.
