On the heels of the last video talking about the REP Fitness AB-5200 I wanted to discuss the Get RX'd FIDAB-2. At first glance they appear to be very similar, but this one has some tricks up it's sleeve. Let's take a look!

@@BasementBrandon So after about a week of using it I can definitely say it meets my needs for sure. I was looking for a heavy duty FID bench and this works well especially at the price. At about half of the Rogue AB3 which was my other option. $675 vs $1265 to my driveway. Seems to be sturdy enough and the ladder system in my opinion is an easier adjustment than the pull pin style. The pad has a really durable feel to it with the material feeling almost scratch and rip resistant. I like the foam on it. Its more comfortable than my rogue utility bench. So I've heard others say the AB3 has a similar feel in the foam to that bench. I've been to commercial gyms for 20 years and this bench feels as good as something id find there if not better. I didn't get the dumbbell holders as they were out of stock. Plus, I have the powerblocks as my dumbbells so they wouldn't work anyways. The worst thing about it is the handle placement. It's next to the ground which isn't the easiest place to grab it from. Nonetheless, not really a big deal in my opinion. I also would've liked a better handle grip rather than the foam grip on it. A knurled handle would've been best. Same thing with the little nubs attached to the spine of the bench to help guide it into the appropriate slot. Would've been nice for a better grip. Overall for the value against the other competitors I'd value it at about 4.5 stars. It does some things well as it rightfully should at $675. It doesn't miss on much, its sturdy, its easy to use, its beefy, and it's a long term solution for your FID bench needs.

Great review. I still think this bench is better than that rep 5200 just because of the dumbbell arms and the fact that they fixed the 6 dollar washer instability issue of the AB 5200 (I am new to weightlifting but how embarrassing to have someone make a 6 dollar fix to an issue like that on a brand new bench).

It looked the dumbbell holders could be mounted on the back instead of the sides. If they can be mounted that way would a barbell fit there with weights on it or would there be a height/clearance issue or something like that?

So oddly enough that's how they say to mount them in the instructions. I did that initially and posted the pics on IG. The problem is a barbell doesn't really work well there.

I appreciate the fine review of this bench. I would be interested in the bench, however as you point out the leg roller attachment and dumbbell holder cost extra and has made me less interested to purchase. For the price of the bench, these items should be included in my opinion. I'm favoring the ZERO-Gap REP AB-5000 bench which retails for $599.99 and has a choice of colors also. The extra money to have the zero gap would be worth it to me. It's not clear on REP's website as to whether the leg roller attachment is included in that price, so I emailed them late yesterday and still waiting on a response. My Titan Fitness T-3 rack is to arrive today, so I'm also considering their MAX Adjust FID bench which retails for $499.99 and free shipping.

I did get an email reply from REP and their leg roller attachment is sold separately from the Zero Gap bench at an extra cost of $109.99. The attachment is currently out of stock. So to get the Zero Gap bench from them and the leg roller attachment, you’re looking at $710. before taxes and shipping.

@@BasementBrandon Receives my Fidab-2 bench yesterday. It is a definite improvement to the AB 5000 in every way. Better bench pad which offers more support. Much quicker when adjusting bench pad and seatpad to different angles. The decline attachment puts less pressure on my knees in comparison to the AB 5000. The decline function itself on this bench is much better than the AB 5000. It feels much more mobile and easier to move than the AB5000. The build quality and aesthetics feel far superior to the AB5000. This was a definite upgrade in every way over the Rep AB5000. My only complaint is the decline attachment should have a handle attached which I'm going to have to get one welded. This is a tough question b/c I already have all 3. I find I use the Rogue the most b/c I like how sturdy it is, but if I didn't own any of them I would likely not buy it first b/c of the high price ($800 shipped). If having to pick between the remaining two, I'd prob go with the Get RX'd even though the pad isn't as nice to bench on, I like the potential upgrades of it and the fact they put the spacers in the ladder system already whereas REP has not (at least on my version).

At 2:00 when the camera is on the other side of the bench as you, one of the pads looks really crooked. Is it that noticeable in person? :-/ The pad sounds like a good middle-ground density between the rep and rogue benches you own. Finally, the dumbbell holders need to be able to adjust up or down, similar to the Titan Adjustable prone row machine. If it used square tubing with holes on all four sides then the handles could be rotated 90° to accept a barbell or turned back the way they are in the video to accept Dumbbells. More versatility. Genius I know. ;)

Just bought this! Wished you mention that the vinyl type material is so thin! My freakin' cheap WalMart bench for $120 is even thicker than this bench! Also, so many nick and scratches! And if you really pay attention how they line up the metals before welding, they are not perfectly aligned, the welding is pretty good though.
