Sometimes building around a curse card could be pretty strong. The best example would be a Pain curse card & rupture+ while also having a Limit Break+ as a cherry on top! I'm pretty bad at the game but this build gave me many wins with The Ironclad

What about bingo runs? With items like "duplicate a curse", "skip a relic", "feed on a boss (Ironclad)" like harder goals; and some simpler stuffs like "end a turn with no cards in hand", "have 6 energy", "remove/transform 4 cards". I think a pool of objectives and a randomizer can go a long way.

Hey Baalor, your content has been fantastic, informative, and has reinvigorated my enjoyment for Slay the Spire. Showed a friend stuck at A20 your content and he beat it within a day using things he learned from your videos. I hope you do well to take care of yourself and avoid burnout. It's not fun! As some challenges for the new year which might be interesting: Max curse in deck per character challenge (Maybe not even requiring a win?) Mod character runs (e.g. Going through a bunch of mod characters for X days or Y runs each) Mod characters would be especially interesting to get a retrospective on likes/dislikes and how they compare balance wise to the original characters. Thanks again for everything!

Silent generally needs the first boss relic to make an impact more than the others imo. Jump to act 2 can be brutal if you can't get to the good cards regularly and quickly.
@HardxCorpsxKali9 сағат бұрын
Cool challenge could be to draft a deck only picking up an attack card from your first reward (skipping if there is no attack) then a skill. Then repeat with attack and skill alternating patterns. That makes for an insane deck since you have to basically pick an attack or skill so you have the ability to pick the other type in the future. Powers wouldn’t be mandatory because of rarity but possibly could be bonus after a complete cycle of attack and skill pickup. 🤷🏽♂️seems like a fun challenge to me.

@17:01 I've noticed the Silent has am underrated ability to hit multiple times- obviously shivs, riddle with holes, skewer, and also a good amount of 0 cost attacks available. Combine that with excellent draw, phantasmal killer is easy to set up for massive damage

PK is a card that’s best with well laid plans, and when you have good but not great physical damage. You have to be able to survive the turn you play it, and have good attacks to play the turn after. It’s certainly useful sometimes, but overall is fairly niche.

The seeded defect run from 2024 was the strongest run in spire history. I’ve rewatched it several times. I absolutely love that run. I wish it would’ve been mentioned as it is definitely the strongest run in spire history. No other spire run will ever hold a candle to how powerful that defect was. Could’ve taken all 3 characters, heart, act 3 bosses, act 2 and act 1 bosses… shield and spear… it could’ve handled every single opponent in spire at once it was so powerful. Defect tapped into his inner saitama for that run. 😂

I guess it's kind of late now but if you want a visual aid for your opinions of the card you should use multiple arrows if it went up or down more than slightly.

I think of Wish similarly to Black Star, you take it when your deck is already strong enough and you want to leverage that early advantage into later advantage. Or you just really don't have any better strength sources and need scaling for bosses.

I’ll consider the draw > remove philosophy on silent bit more. A struggle character for me (currently climbing ascension, at time of commenting A18 on all characters) by a lot easily my worst character, not only do I find her hard but I don’t find her super fun either.

I feel like defect I either get the absolute nuts (usually a core surge, biased, frost line) or I get wiped
@user-un8jx8yo7zКүн бұрын
It mechanics are cool but at the same time however I think the scaling of A20 hurts it a lot. Frost and focus are so ingrained in the core strategy of the character that it's pretty damn linear. It can experiment less than any of the other 3 imo. I know this is true of a lot of characters but act 4 really makes the decks look very similar for defect. You're always hoping for the same cards and relics basically even more so than the other characters.

I've watched so, so many hours of your Spire runs, and honestly after this year's sustained push to improve your win rates and win streaks with each character I'd be perfectly happy if you left StS alone until StS2 comes out later this year. That said, I loved the mastery challenge, and if you can come up with something similar that presents you with some novel goals in the game I think that'd be a lot of fun. Incidentally, I hope StS2 takes a page from Monster Train and includes a selection of bespoke challenge missions with game modifiers that range from silly/fun to downright cruel.

I think it’s worth noting that just because there weren’t a lot of deaths to shield and spear directly they often the cause of death nevertheless. I remember a few heart deaths throughout the year where going into the heart fight damaged from shield and spear directly caused death to heart. So the data might not be revealing the entire truth on that matter

Do you really want to do a whole another year of Spire?
@TimonmansКүн бұрын
Maybe play the game and keep track of things like these and try to get them as high as possible during the year: - The highest amount of block - The highest amount of damage in one hit - Most poison - Most cards in deck - Etc. That will maybe encourage you to break the game even harder to, for example, try to beat your highest damage in one hit (and not focus on winning that game).
@beaub9418Күн бұрын
Unfortunately many of those stats are really just a test of patience once you have a deck that can infinitely scale and can also stall out an easy fight.
@lordteensie6156Күн бұрын
I think there's a big flaw on the reasoning against tools and prepared. Not that it's incorrect exactly but incomplete. Tools for example, yes if you hadn't added tools to your deck you would not be any further through your deck on your next turn than if you had, but this is missing half of the power of a card like tools for the trade. The second, and perhaps more important, benefit of tools is that you get to see an extra card on your next hand to better craft your turn. And that's true for all card draw, it's the utility of cycling to your better cards and gaining more choices for the turn.
@buttecakeКүн бұрын
He is not saying they it is not a benefit. He is saying you don't get the benefit until 2 turns after playing the card. If you didn't have tools in your hand you would have looked 1 card deeper on the turn you played it. Then looked the same depth the turn after. Then 2 turns later you look one card deeper
@lordteensie6156Күн бұрын
@buttecake that's precisely my point, that's incomplete analysis, yes you only get so many cards deep into the deck but that's not the only metric that matters. Card draw has two major benefits, one is cycling through the deck to get to your good cards faster, the other is improving your current hand. When you focus solely on the cycling part you're missing the current hand part Edit: think of it this way, without tools of the trade on your first turn you only see 5 cards on your next turn, but with tools you get to see 6 instead, thereby improving your hand by letting you choose the 5 you want instead of drawing whatever happened to be the top 5 of your deck
@buttecakeКүн бұрын
@@lordteensie6156 on your first turn you see 5 cards, however one of those cards is tools of the trade. So if it was not in the deck we would see one card deeper. So with tools we can think of it as the first turn we see 4 cards plus tools. and on the second we see 6 so 10 Total. Without tools in the deck we see 5 cards(4 of the same plus one instead of tools) then the next turn we see 5 more so again 10 total. So it is not until the second turn after playing tools that we begin to reap the rewards of playing it. Though as baalorlord points out the discard aspect of tools and prepared is actually valuable and we get to reap that reward on the first instance of it activation
@lordteensie6156Күн бұрын
@@buttecake you're not listening homie, I've understood and acknowledged what you're explaining multiple times, you're just providing the object lesson for what I was explaining
@buttecakeКүн бұрын
@@lordteensie6156 after re reading your 2 posts I still fail to understand how you will be in a better position the turn directly after playing tools than if you had not added it to your deck. Other than activation of discard effects. Perhaps a specific example highlighting how your hand will be in a better state that would be unachievable had we not played tools would help me understand. Edit: after asking this I have come up with an example. B =block S = Strike C = Curse/dead card Say we have card 5-10 as B B S S S B If we had not added tools we would only have access to the 2B 3S hand, if we had played it we would have access to the 3B 2S hand and the 2B 3S hand. Thanks @lordteensie6156 for enlightening me :)
