Music is: Maksim Mrvica Somewhere in Time / The Old Woman. The code describes a Tour Jete as: Fouette Hop with leg change to cross split (leg separation 180°) to land on one foot

@Gymnasticseverywhere In dance, a cat leap is called an axel turn, but I think it may be a teeny bit different because axels are done with tighter passe. A reverse leap in dance would be if you turned your torso 180 in the air but your legs did not switch. In other words, you start off leaping foreward with a right leg split and end up in a left leg split going backwards or vice versa. In both dance and gymnastics, a tour jete (french for turn leap) involves a turn and a switch.

I think Mattie Larson did something like that too at the 2008 Olympic trials. It was really good!

@Daniel Neves, a switch split leap the leg you push off of goes forward. In the regular split leap the leg you push off of goes backwards. The latter is much easier to generate the required power to compete the leave (its very similar to the motion a hurdler would go over a hurdle in track and field)

@MostepanovaFan Thank you for explaining that, I've always wondered the difference between a Tour Jete and a switch half. To me they look the same.
@alexatornrose15 жыл бұрын
When you come across the word "switch" it means that one leg swings forward to a less then 45 degrees angle, then it comes backwards, and the other leg swings forward until you rich the split position. That's why it's called "a switch leap", because the legs change direction in their swing in the air. Where "switch" not mentioned, there's no leg switch.

could anyone tell me, wat is the difference between tour jete and split leap 0.5 turn?

Very complete montage, but where is the piked jump ? (I don't know if that still exists, but Amanar was doing one)

Great music and great content. What is the title of the music? It is just lovely. Out of curiosity, how does one technically describe a tour jete?

Is the Johnson switch split named after Shawn Johnson?
@MostepanovaFan15 жыл бұрын
It is not in the code of points anymore, no pike jumps are for floor exercise so I assume the FIG want to discourage them (not that many people did them anyway)

Still don't understand the difference between a switch leap full and a split leap full 🤔 They look the same to me
@elizabeth87206 жыл бұрын
Switch leap full - turn toward front leg. Split leap full - turn away from front leg.

Same! It's like they are trying to show the split position with the same lead leg after they turn 180 degrees, strange technique imo.

a leap is from a run and a jump is from a standing position.

What is the difference between a leap and a jump?
@joyfuljaj3 жыл бұрын
leaps take off one leg, jumps take off both. I typically think of leaps landing on one leg too, but I don't know if that is the gymnastics definition.

Could anyone tell me what is the difference between split leap and sissone?
@13shifter8 жыл бұрын
Sissone you land on one leg then the other steps to come to it. Split you take off of both legs and then land back with both legs at the same time.
@sabkktt8 жыл бұрын
+Matt Beck +Matt Beck no..you are wrong. i have found the right answer. The difference is related to the legs in the air but not landing. split leap is about 180 split horizontally while sissone is a sloping line in the air..
@13shifter8 жыл бұрын
Excuse me but don't be rude. I was just trying to help. Yes you are correct about the split position but you are also supposed to land on one foot at a time for a sissone. Most gymansts do not do this on floor but it is more easily scene on balance beam.

I just was never sure with the very last jump by Gogean. I always felt like she cheated a bit on it...
@finfelagund15 жыл бұрын
There have always been some controversies with "Gogean", that is to say, double wolf leap. Even Gina, it´s inventor, cheated it a little bit throughout her carreer, the same with other girls who (perhaps) did it or tried it later. So I am surprised at the high ("D") value of this highly controversial skill.
@michaelst.helene15402 жыл бұрын
Since it is being cheated on by even the creator and others it shows that it is a difficult skill to do well.
