They could be very well within our own Galaxy. A civilization that is not a full 2 or more in the kardashev scale would be surprisingly hard to find. You'd think we could catch a signal or something but no, even if they are broadcasting nonstop the chances of catching a proper signal are pretty small.

Space is BIG. Think of the longest distance you can, and that's basically like taking a single step in space. A mile is 5000+ ft. The moon is 220 thousand miles away from earth. That's 1.1 million feet. Space is so vast that a 10th of a degree in difference when aiming a signal at something will cause it to miss by a truly massively large distance.

I am a proud believer in the void. I've seen two lighters vanish in a motel room never to appear again. Me and my buddy tore that room apart. This is also the void. If you humbly pray to it, I find it often returns what it's stolen. Have had a pretty good success rate.

4:06 look, I know people have very intense beliefs about this, but I think it’s really important to say it. Westerners like myself need to be SUPER careful about claiming that the only possible explanation for the marvels of the ancient world is that there was a pre-Stone Age advanced society. Why? Well, almost all of them are in non-Western parts of the world. We have marvels from Peru to Egypt, parts of the Middle East and Asia, but very very few from what we consider “the western world” (aka Europeans/white people). There are plenty of reasons for that (not least of which is that people literally just haven’t lived here and in large enough groups for anywhere near as long), but regardless. It might not be what OP thinks personally, but the original proposers of the “we must have had advanced society and/or aliens in the past” theories were following that thought up with, “because otherwise that means people in the global south were *gasp* more advanced than EUROPEANS in ancient times, which is obviously much less likely to be true than aliens.” The other problem is, it’s also just….factually incorrect. We know or have a good idea of how most of these things were likely done. Haven’t you ever seen those videos on KZbin where they build stuff with only hand tools? A lot of that is fake, but find a legit one and watch them break a large stone using pegs/wedges, for example. Humans are SMART and resourceful, and we have also realized that some of the resources that ancient humans had access to are actually no longer around for us to take note of. For instance, there are strong signs that the Nile had a different path/river delta that long ago, which significantly impacts the possibilities of how various goods could have been transported, etc. And hell, there are a LOT of things people make by hand TODAY that seem like complete wizardry to me. There have always been geniuses, and they have always made discoveries and created incredible things. There’s a number of other arguments against it, some as straightforward as Occam’s razor- literally, the simplest explanation is the correct explanation much, MUCH more often than not. But besides that, my best scientific example is that we have tested soil, air, stones, surfaces, etc, from all over the world, and we are very, very aware of how to detect signs of radiation in all of it. When archaeologists or geologists dig something up, they are really good at dating in general, but are especially able to detect whether something was created before or after atomic bombs had gone off. Simply put, the chances of there being a nuclear-level society before the 1940s is virtually null. I suppose you could try to argue that they were “advanced, just not nuclear-level,” but….eh. And honestly, isn’t it just cooler to think about how incredible these people were, to make the discoveries they did and build the creations they made, and do it all without modern tech? People are SO FRIGGIN COOL when we stop blowing each other up and remember that ultimately, the only reason we’re not apes anymore is bc we evolved the ability to communicate and work together at exponentially larger and larger scales. Embrace that, and embrace the achievements of the past. They still teach us an incredible amount today!

As a Mormon, we are NOT issued pamphlets. Some moms do talk to their daughters, and I'll assume dads to their son. But health class and basic level, "How babies are made" classes is sufficient to get most going in the right direction. Plus, not all Mormons are married as virgins or having never watched adult content. Saying.

There is like an entire community of people on places like Reddit and KZbin where they quite literally do brag about how much they smoke often seeming to almost be in competition with one another to see who can smoke the most and it's just as sad and depressing as it sounds but it does happen Addiction does weird things to people I don't think anyone bragging about lack of sleep is really unaware of the negative health aspects they usually seem to be more essentially trying to show off the fact that there's such a dedicated worker that they are willing to sacrifice their own health for it. Mostly a problem-born from people who still believe that age old idea that working harder is the key to success when it just isn't

Possibility that there’s more life in the universe our universe is so big, and the fact that we somehow exist must mean others can exist too.
@ResidentMilf
@ResidentMilf 11 ай бұрын
The problem is that the amount of time our technology has existed is a tiny blip compared to the amount of time the universe has existed. So even if there were other intelligent life in existence at some point, the chances that their blip would align with our blip are astronomically low. Unless you just mean life and not necessarily *intelligent* life, in which case aliens exist confirmed: asteroids have landed on earth with alien bacteria on them.

Story 10, point 3: Mormons really should be handed an anatomy/intercourse-how-to manual because of their sheltered lives. Somewhere else on this website, a reddit reader was reading stories from doctors about the dumb things they had to explain to people. One of them was an ER doctor who had to explain the clitoris to a Mormon couple.
@ResidentMilf
@ResidentMilf 11 ай бұрын
I remember hearing about a fundie couple who went to see a fertility specialist about their inability to conceive, only for the doctor to find out they weren't even having sex. Their parents had never taught them the birds and the bees and they assumed that sleeping in the same bed after marriage would eventually result in pregnancy.

As a former American Idol contestant I can say that’s only partly true. My season (Carrie Underwood) they had another girl who was VERY similar to Carrie, and they made sure she went home early because it was pretty clear they already had a favorite. Not Carrie’s fault, and she absolutely competed fairly against the other contestants, but early on in the process it’s necessary to clear the clutter by getting rid of the carbon copies. They want 10 unique and different talents competing at the end, so they work strategically to ensure that’s the case.

The guy who thinks thre was an ancient mega-advanced civilisation needs to *actually look at what archaeologists say*. And to also remember that many, if not most, of these things were created by people who were 1000% convinced the gods and kings they were building to were divine. And the archaeologists regularly talk about the tools they used! We know how 95% of these structures were made because we have looked at the evidence and *reproduced the results*. To say nothing of, in several cases, *actual records from the time of the creation of these monolithic structures*, that, get this... *TALKED ABOUT HOW THEY WERE MADE*. Also, look at the fucking Sistine chapel! That is a 'modern' equivalent, commonly ignored to have been using similar levels of tech except instead of bronze we had steel, yet, suddenly, no one is questioning how we made it, even though it takes just as much of a level of engineering as the pyramids. The difference is that because so many people think of those in the past as ancient idiots, instead of recognising that ancient peoples were no less intelligent or resourceful than we are. The only people who believe we don't know how these ancient monoliths were made are: 1. Literal children listening to pseudoarcheology videos 2. People so racist that they think aliens made them 3. People who hear the phrase 'No one knows how they were made!' and just takes the announcer's word on it, instead of like, literally looking into *literally anything* recognised experts say. Also, if you're curious about this sort of thing, you should look into miniminuteman. His series awful archaeology goes into how a lot of these pseudoscientists trick people into this nonsense, and actually brings up actual evidence and usually (like 99% of the time or more) with, like, sources, so you can go and look at the actual evidence yourself. He also debunks the "mainstream science doesn't want you to know this!" with the very obvious "Dude, you have clearly literally never met an archaeologist because if we actually had any *real* proof of an ancient super-advanced civilization we would be SO stoked. We would be climbing over each other to be the first to prove it. Mainstream archaeology could only *benefit* from there being a super-advanced ancient civilization because *then people would care about what we do more, and would pay us more money to do the jobs we love.*" Edit: Whoops typo'd his name.

Outside of maybe once a year, there's maybe 3-4 cars in their lot max, including the staff cars, every time I go by it, even during peak dinner/lunch hours. Only evidence I have is people in high-school who did drugs preaching by it despite 2 places that are at least as good being a stone throw away that are arguably in just as well trafficked areas. I also see people either going in the other stores or the cars around town more even before things like doorsash became common.

I vividly remember that at some point in pokemon outside of the movie where they originally appeared, latias journeyed outside of its city to help Ash in a tournament or event. I can see it disguised as the one girl and her jumping over the railing when Ash calls and scaring everyone else as they think she is jumping to her death. She drops her disguise and flies over to fight. The main reason I remember it was because it was the first time I could remember the main series actually acknowledged movies as having occurred when they normally don't. I can't ever find evidence.

17:50 this and TV reality contest shows, I whole heartedly believe that an actor is hired every season to be the one who stirs drama among the cast. I mean think about it, every season on every show, theres at least 1 fucker who instigates like kindergardeners yet somehow when you know they're gonna get eliminated by some miracle nobody gets eliminated that night. Then near the end of the season when the audience and crew are tired of their crap, they get paid, probably close the same amount as the reward on the show, just to throw the game and let the real contestants win. Been a heavy believer ever since the mt dew game dev contest years ago, the entire thing was to be televised on I think G4, and the devs came out saying they were forced to drink mt dew, instead of water, and some devs said they were given a script to stir drama.

I'm 100% certain that Princess Peach Showtime is a response to the animated Super Mario Bros Movie turning her into a girl-boss. I bet Illumination grabbed up the old SMB 90s show as part of their contract, tricked Nintendo with some test footage of what they presented Peach to be, but gave her a personality change based on the 90s cartoon and technically still fell under contract, which only got revealed at the 11th hour of production and was far too late to change (probably within contract guidelines, so Nintendo would've been expected to foot millions for changes). Nintendo then went to make a whole new game, for specifically the creation of a 'Peach Bible', so that Illumination can't try to step out of line again. Willing to bet that in the next Mario Movie, Peach will be dialed back a thousand fold. If whoever is in charge of her in movie script is spiteful enough, they'll probably just turn her into a damsel in distress permanently to try to drum up public discourse against Nintendo.
