Oh man I just lost my Prius to catalytic converter theft. I used to boondock in it too, the hybrid is great: I just leave it at "Park" and heater set to auto. Engine only starts up if heater needs to run, and shuts off automatically once temp is reached. If you leave AC on, you can even do it in summer, and/or to dehumidify at whatever temperature you want. Works great! Your video may inspire me to buy another to replace it! Thanks Paul.

I bought a 2006 Prius some years ago hoping to use it to camp. I put an 1100 watt inverter attached to the right rear fender wall above the battery. That worked nice for a small Instant Pot and water kettle so I didn't need a stove. But, 2 of us weren't very comfortable so we bought a Sienna minivan for trips. I like your toilet design. I bought a scissor fold camp stool on Amazon that's made to be a toilet. It's bigger than your bucket with top seat, although it can be used as a useful camp stool. I loved that you tried the roadside wheat. I have made bread by soaking wheat till it sprouts, then running it in a mixer. It makes a nice dough without any grinding.

Great video Paul. When I am on short solo trips to the States (from Vancouver Island), I sleep in my 2007 Ford Edge. For quick solo trips, it is the only way to go for me, since I don't have a hybrid to drive. The best 'feature' in my Edge is the lounging setup at night. You see, the front passenger seat flips forward and becomes a completely flat surface, but the real part that makes this a perfect setup is the rear passenger seat. It reclines! I can spend time on the computer or watch some downloaded movies on my tablet or relax while I eat a meal. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.

This is a tad nicer than my setup. Cut a couple pieces of plywood and a couple legs to put on the folded down seats with a 4 inch foam topper cut to size. Threw it together before a trip to a wooden boat show the wife and i went to. We didn't want to spend money on a hotel room for a short 3 day trip. We slept in the 2013 prius and stopped at a truck stop for a 10 dollar shower. Pretty nice if your a cheap ass like me haha. Good idea on the underfloor clothes storage. Nice kitchenette also

Thank you for another great video. I prefer to take dehydrated food and just buy fresh when I can rather than maintain a cooler. I have found eggs with last weeks unrefrigerated raw. Cheese it depends on how warm it gets in the day but at least 3 to 4 days and single servings in wax last longer. Butter doesn't have to be refrigerated. Yes less is definitely more in a small space. Horse bedding pellets work better than cat litter and are lighter, but they don't work as well to give you grip on ice... cat litter makes a good desiccant though. Thank you for taking the time to create this video . Safe travels.

One of my dad's brothers lived in eastern Washington. I visited them and was impressed with all of the wheat fields they have there. I asked my aunt if she used any of the local wheat and she said it wasn't any good for anything. I thought that sounded off since farmers don't grow anything they can't sell. I never looked into it, so I'm not sure what she was trying to say.

I added this to my Prius Campers and Dwellers playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLx8nx9rsDPRH02-xB8_ubt2tX-_bsj5Lo In my experience, using an inverter and a 350 watt wall thermostat with the built in digital thermostat, was more than enough to keep things warm in my Prius overnight. Also, other KZbinrs have demonstrated that a inverter-heater type set up is twice as efficient as getting heat from the Prius' engine. In my Prius, the 12-volt refrigerator fits right in the passenger footwell area where you had your super-cooler and is super convenient.
